Matchroom put out its first list of rankings for the return of the World Pool Masters in 2027 in Taipei. Clearly MR is using the WPM to entice more top pros to play in its events and to continue to play in its events.

Reaction to the WPA/Predator? Perhaps, but if so, good. Competition at work, I guess.

Based on the point distribution, It seems players start accumulating points based on the first WNT ranking event of 2026. That was the Taipei Open in January.

Ko Pin Yi won the event and earned $30,000, or 30,000 points. Who knows, might even be enough to quality him even if he doesn't play another WNT event this year (looks like he might play in the US Open).

The only U.S. player on the WPM list is ... Lukas Fracasso-Verner at No. 11. New citizen Hohman is 38, Fedor is 45 and Styer is 46.

SVB has no points toward the WPM. He has not played in any WNT events this year.

The Americans will get their chance soon, though. Looks like they will all be playing in the Florida, US, Arizona and Phoenix opens. Bergman posted the other day he's signed up for all four of those events, plus the Vice City Classic at Classic Billiards a few days before the Florida Open starts.

The top 12 players in the WNT rankings qualify. WNT will pick four wild cards (one or both of whom will be the Ko brothers).

Last year the China World Games drew some of the top European pros at the same time the Florida Open was being played. Filler, Woj, Maciol and Szolnoki among them.

There does not appear to be a conflict this year. WPA calendar doesn't have any other big competing men's events taking place. It will be interesting to see the Florida Open field this year. Haven't seen any indications of whether Filler will show.
