New flexible collet design

Esscot Custom Cues
I ordered these flexible collets on (sadly) facebook. I have the flexible collet for the steady rest from Chris Facundus of Cue Maker Supply which is fantastic.

Only one collet for all tip sizes. It will go around the oversized ferrule or tip before turning down, so no more strap first and switching to a collet after it reaches shaft diameter. The others can be placed in the specific spot rather only where the collet sinches to. Even comes in a nice box/holder.

Just got them, so not a lot of use yet, but I am impressed so far.

Ordered from Tom Callihan. Easy fast service and shipping.

They are flexible but still solid, unlike the set of 3D printed ones that were very rigid.

It slips over easy, snugs up to fit the diameter and taper. A raised lip on one end would be nice to bump up against the jaws, but not that big of a deal. I'll get used to that.

I see he posted that he made them for a 3 jaw chuck. Why dont you ask him. I was just reading his post
OK I see where you're coming from now, thanks. I guess I missed that sentence or it just didn't register. Yes, I see he designed it in thirds to be more lined up with the jaws. They are still solid and stable with my four jaws.

Nice. Shouldn't there be a Purpleheart break shaft in that machine?
😁

And risk it on an un-tested tool?? no way, but here you go.

This is what I meant about getting the collet over the ferrule that is still oversized. I couldn't do this with the stiff fixed sized collets.

Ironically, I just saw a video from Cue Maker Supply offering a new normal style set but in the flexible material, so that is an option if you don't like this style.
