Left chuck on my lathe keeps unscrewing itself ...

Recently, I've had five occurrences of the left chuck on the headstock of my Cueman Deluxe lathe. In each case, the work I had in place was ruined. I have cleaned both sides of the threads thoroughly, and have tightened the chuck down with all the force that I can apply with one punch in both the left and right chucks.

All I have to do is turn on the lathe and wait. Within 5 minutes, the left chuck already starts to unscrew.

Anyone else have this happen? I'm considering using a bit of Locktite Blue but don't want to make disassembly difficult when I take the headbox apart for maintenance.

Regards,

If it's constantly unscrewing itself just running on its own, the threads sound like they have to much play in them and every time you hammer them down it just progressively makes it worse. the first time this happened did anything cause it to come undone or did something crash into it while running. Are the bearings still tight with no play in them.

Yes he talked to me last night and should have it going good now.

I tore the whole thing down to the bare bones, all of the headstock, both chucks, etc., and put it all in my deep ultrasonic cleaner. I then put it all back together and used a small amount of Locktite Blue on the threads of the left chuck. Tightened it as tight ad my hands could deliver. We'll see how it works out. I've had this machine for years without issue, this is new.. We'll see ......
