going from sun glasses or nothing to trifocals , I hate them

I just got mine again after two plus years without. I missed them. Everyone's different. They do take getting used to. This pair the center is off somewhat. I just tilt my head up a little more. Yesterday shapes were off kilter when I first got to work. By the end of the day, it was better.

I dunno what private health insurance plans pay but even basic Medicare picks up a chunk.
Eyesight and hearing are senses we rely and depend on every day and diminishment of those
senses can be ruinous to just enjoying everyday life. Cataract surgery was like seeing color for
the first time. I didn’t know how dull colors had become because of the thickening interfering
with light. In fact, there were some I couldn’t distinguish like dark blue and dark green that
looked identical to me. Until you suffer from cataracts & undergone the surgery, it’s hard to explain.

The results are a miracle. The key is go to a first class doctor. Mine was great. And it was 1 week apart not 2 for the opposing eye.

I visited the doctor yesterday. I am getting glasses for sure, might try them a little while before ordering billiard glasses.

He is also ordering some contacts for me to try, but I can't remember what type.

He did his best, but as someone already said, I could tell he was guessing when I asked him to help me specifically with billiards.

Just simply tell him that you need the contacts for distance and he'll know what to do. You'll need reading glasses for your phone while wearing your contacts.
Distance contacts worked perfectly for me until I had Cataract surgery and got distance lenses in my eyes.

For all those "just get contacts" comments: not all prescriptions are eligible and also this:

No shot I'm touching my eye.

I wear sport glasses full time (Oakley Flak 2.0). My last pair of "regular" glasses broke a few years ago and these are too damn comfortable so i just keep wearing/replacing them. They sit close enough to my face that i don't have issues getting the lens between the shot and my eyeball. Also just fit my lifestyle better than any metal "style" frame around. Between mountain biking, working on bikes, hockey, softball, marksmanship ... I get hit in the face a lot. Having eye protection on full time has paid off more than once.

i got mine from zenni optical, for an absolute fraction of the price i could find them anywhere else. You can change the lens shape and i went with tallest ones i could.
