Cue makers in South florida

order a cue from dennis but make sure you give no money in advance like with south west.

if he says you must pay in advance. ask him if they let him get gas and pay later. or at the supermarket.

or give him a credit card if he will finish with a month. then if not you can cancel the sale.

of course he wont do any of that.

I was lucky. I tried to buy from DS. He never returned my call or replied to my email.

you cant lose if you dont pay in advance.

and any really top famous maker cannot get stuck with a cue. as anything made will sell almost immediately if not bought.

so requiring money up front other than say a small deposit for materials which they should have anyway, is a sign they want to use your money for other purposes than making your cue. which is disingenuous.

So not much of a chance to get a custom order from either fella?
Well, poor old Abe Rich in Miami - early 90s I visited him at his shop while I was in the area on business and I placed an order with him- he was just so out of it by then - age related - that on my return trip he had no clue as to any order from me - and did this all in person with him - I felt sorry for him and bought a cue and case that was lying around his shop.

You can get some new or nearly new Joe Sanko cues on e bay now and maybe on this site as well for Joe’s family has sold off some leftover cues and I know that Mueller’s bought some of Joe’s unfinished work and either Troy Downey or Ryan from Mueller’s finished off those cues.

Ted Harris movedcfrom Maryland to FLORIDA.
I visited Ted in 2018 when I had just moved to Fl. He was just north of Miami- Ted left Fl. In 2019 and I believe that he went to North Dakota. I did not stay in Fl. either and left last year.
Ted did great work - he put new tips on my Richard Black cue and one remains on there to this day playing great when I take it out. He did some shaft taper work for me that day too on another cue- I was sad to see him leave even though it was a two hour drive for me to his shop - once he left I went back to sending my cue work to Mueller’s and Proficient.South Florida did not offer much in terms of cue repair that I considered top shelf on the west coast anyhow.
