I posted about cube V10 awhile ago and a lot of people have since switched just because of its familiar shape.
It applies more evenly than the TAOM dish shape and you can brush apply the corners to ensure even wear.
Personally, I think TAOM didn’t want to have to offer two shapes and knew the cube would be very popular.
So using a prominent name to market a different shape TAOM chalk made introducing it easy to accomplish.

Absolutely, except for one consideration that seems to be important, at least for people with home tables.
All chalk does is create friction but all chalk is not equally as messy, or differently stated, some chalks are
just cleaner. Now that’s just an indisputable fact and red chalk makes an awful mess. Cheap chalk creates
and leaves a lot of debris on the cloth and needlessly marks the cue ball necessitating periodic cleaning.
And Masters also leaves a mess just not as much so applying chalk away from the table rather than over
the rails & cloth is smart. For heavens sake, stop twisting the chalk on your tip that makes the biggest mess.
Because you learned a bad habit doesn’t mean you have to keep doing it and coring the pool chalk is wrong.
One thing to consider is that messier chalk creates clouds of dust while applying it and while stroking the ball.
That dust is not just dirt on the hands, ball and table, we breath it while playing and that's bad for us.
Less if the place you play in is aired nicely but not all room are.

I do not own table, I do not over Chalk, so the CLEAN thing is. not important. I do keep a paper town near to keep the HANDS DRY.
I think that I saw years ago a research connecting heavy pool playing (hours everyday) to lung cancer.
Some of it if not most is attributed to heavy smoking around the tables but they did mention chalk as well.
only if you're an idiot. been playing 40yrs+ and don't recall any 'clouds' of chalk dust.

Why is it done? It looks like there's still about 40% remaining of the piece on the right. What am I missing?
no, it and optical illusion from the camera angel, more like 25% and it's very low and hard to grab.
It also appear to be harder at this point and harder to apply, the tip needs to be scuffed often to grab the chalk.
replacing chalk once a year is OK by me

That's not done! Little mileage left in that. I am at the same point with a blue one. He gave me three pieces, and I am almost ready for my second piece. Very nice chalk.
Let's say you paid $30 for that 1 piece of chalk a year and 2months is 60 weeks so 30÷60=.50 so the chalk cost you 50cents a week, or about $2.00 a month, one of the cheapest luxuries in pool equipment.

I am lucky to have an abundance of high quality chalk I never paid for. Very little difference between them all in my opinion. Marginal differences at best. Lots of stuff is just rebranded or repackaged (reminds me of the current film photography market). Mezz, Taom, Pagulayan, ghost, HR, TP, the innumerate ocean of Chinese brands. Feel like I have tried everything. Like the colour, like the size and shape, like how it feels when applying. So when he gave this to me, just kept using it. In my case and no need to change. All subjective silliness really.

I play Becue cues which are CF, even the butt, ditched the glove about 6 months ago, using TAOM V10, I haven't gone through 2 rounds of chalk in 4 years, I use a Dr V's magnetic chalk holder, if you own one or seen one you know you ain't losing your chalk with that holder, it is ridiculously strong, in the end it's one of the cheapest pieces of pool equipment you can buy, use what works for you, I say that for all pool equipment, just because insert pro player name here uses it doesn't mean it's right for you, I never liked hard tips,in my quest to find my tip I tried a TAOM Fusion tip, I expected a medium tip but it was a hard tip to me, I made it a point to ALWAYS leave a new tip on for at least 2 months whether I liked it or not to give the tip a chance, how would you know how a tip plays unless you give it a chance?
