Why don't more bars lease Diamond pool tables?

Another consideration is people who come in to play pool in that really nice table, are highly unlikely to be drinkers or spend much money at all in the place. They just tie up the table.
Just more food for thought.

Not necessarily, me and my pool buddies (and our extended pool circles) hang out at bars with Diamond tables and spend plenty of money, even waiting 1+ hour to get on the table on a regular basis.
 
each place is different and each area of the country is also.

the bar owner has to figure out his clientele and cater to them, such that is the best money make for him..

And looking at the scenery and landscape of Montana is just awful right ? So where is it better ha ha ????

I do admit I underestimated the width of Montana. I’ve never driven all the way across. Last year my travels took me up to Billings then across ND. I spent the night in Billings and headed East the next day. The distance between Billings and the ND border was more than I thought and I looked at the maps GPS etc…. But made it to Fargo Billiards for dinner. 😉

Driving anywhere in Montana can be challenging to say the least ! You want to make sure to fill up with fuel , snacks and drinks , then keep a small scoop shovel in you're vehicle just in case a big candle with 4 or 5 wicks and a lighter is wise also just in case .

If you break down during the winter here stay with your vehicle you will have a better chance to be found alive that way .

Maybe it is just me, but I just can't enjoy playing pool at all, using a Mud cue ball, and I understand that they are varying degrees of bad, with them.

I randomly found this bar in Downtown Austin, which was a really nice and very classic looking bar, and they had a nice line of 5 Valley coin op tables. All with nasty old Mud cue balls on them.

I tried playing / hitting some balls on one of them, and it was just so horrible. I could not even finish, it was so un enjoyable.

I believe that Diamond offers a free lease on coin op tables, for half of the profit, from what I read somewhere a long time ago. Not sure if that is still the case though.

Don't you think that a lot more players would visit a bar if it offered Diamonds, or at least Valley's with a decent set of balls?

And, why is it that most Valley coin op tables usually have these nasty old mud balls, that look like they are maybe 30 years old?

The funny thing is, that the pool scene in Austin is very lively. People just love to play pool here. There are always people on all of the pool tables.

Back in Evansville, where it seemed like every bar had a Diamond, they were always empty, and I rarely ever seen anyone playing on them, other then at the real pool halls.

So, maybe the type of table would not even matter, in these bars. The banger's will enjoy playing on them no matter what.

they make their money mostly off drinks and a pool table brings in money and keeps the bar patron there drinking.

no reason not to own a table themselves and have a local work on it if needs be.

Thats very different in Texas and especially in Houston. The break-pot in many bars in Houston is as much as $500 a ball and the bars added Money brings out the players and players at every level. And a lot of the bar players are also league players too, its just the cost of table replacement thats not good math.

If a watering hole has something beyond a beat up valley, that's just a bonus (unless you ask someone that doesn't like Diamonds.) But that's because we play pool. I can think of maybe 1 bar in a 30-40mi radius of me that has 7ft Diamond blue labels (they have 2.)

Fast Eddy's has all Diamond Bar Box's, the bigger the location the more they have, one iLocation n Austin three in Houston.

Not at all what I am suggesting but one can only stare at the earth and sky for so long until its time to see something else. Being that its so sparsely populated I would guess the sights are few and far between but I could be wrong, I was wrong about Pennsylvania, I thought it would be downtrodden because of what we hear and see about Kensington Avenue but when driving thru I thought it was gorgeous. The only thing I thought strange about both Pennsylvania and Ohio is that they seem to like to build nice homes right on the interstate.

I went to Pitt. Was friends with a lot of guys that lived in rural, very rural, Pennsylvania. Im still in touch with them almost 50 years later. They grew up hunting and fishing. They will tell you that there are streams in Pennsylvania that you can fish that haven't been fished in 20 years.

Sometimes, the cue ball does not even seem to roll straight. As if the magnet were not in the very center of the mud ball.

Because 99.9 percent of the people probably are just there to have a few drinks and pass the time, they don’t care anything about the tables, cues etc. they simply don’t take the game seriously like we do.

They must be a big enough draw or else zero bar owners would bother to get Diamond tables when they could just get a used Great American for 1/5 of the price.
