Are high end predators hard to sell on the secondary market?

Thank you.
Going for that old school classic look.
Steve and I went back and forth for about a year bouncing ideas off of each other. He is a very patient gentleman. The theme of the cue was fall colors and his kielwood shaft came with the cue.
His father made a cue for me 10 years prior which he cleaned up for me and I have retired it.
I may have to call and get one going. I finally got a production Joss and wondered why I hadn’t done it sooner. I have a couple ideas in mind.

I see young guys and gals with wood shaft Meuccis all the time at the pool halls.

I agree that the Predator fanboys are likely to want the Revo though, even though many extremely good pro pool players use Predator wood shafts (most notably Carlo Biado).
1) they are pro’s . I never compare myself what an elite player uses. Because I’m not them.
2) they all use different cue’s and shafts because we aren’t all robots and like different shit. It’s not being a fan boy. If I didn’t the the way the revo hit I wouldn’t play with it. If you think a wood shaft plays better then by all means use it. Don’t try force yourself to play with something you don’t like.

I was curious about how the higher end Pechauer wokd shafts play
It plays fine. The only thing I like less about the P+ pro is the 5/8" ferrule, but the blame for that falls solely on my other shafts that have 1/2" ferrule (wood Predator) or less (Revo <1/16", HOW flash 1/16".) I've fallen out of love with it, which strictly speaking was never marriage material to begin with. Maybe the Rogue is ex-wife material (1/8" ferrule), who knows. Their P+ lite (7/16" ferrule) would be more of my jam if I were starting my Pechauer wood shaft journey from scratch. But for the money you have to spend (~$300 new) and having played with Predator shafts, I'd just buy a new 314-3/Z3 for $60-80 more or a used/previous generation 314/Z.

I actually prefer ferrules to be at least half an inch, I think the Meucci one is perfect

There is nothing wrong with people liking what they like, I was just responding to the idea of amateur pool players thinking CF will make them better because they see pros using them.

I’m definitely a fan boy! Well, of their shafts.
I’ve tried multiple LD wooden shafts back in the day, none were any good as the Predator shafts.
I have several CF shafts, the Revo in my opinion is the best with the SMO next to it.
Of course that it’s subjective but after 28 years with Predator shafts, I conclude that there is no point in looking elsewhere, I always find myself back with the cat… it’s the only brand that delivers on performance as advertised.

Although I’m not a fan of the butts they offer when it comes to design and prices, something caught my ear a few days ago, I saw Johnny Archer being interviewed and he was told that Mike Sigel said that metal jointed cues deflect more than non metal, and Johnny agreed with it. Thinking about it, rhis might jave a point and maybe something that I’ve felt myself but ignored it as a stroke issue.
So it the butt make a difference, maybe a complete cue that is designed to work together with a shaft, may perform even better.
Something to think about… I don’t see myself spending 3K to test this theory… 🫩

My 2 cents about custom cues vs hi end production cues
I have a small collection of cues, some are custom, some are production.
I find that a lot of custom cue makers make really nice looking cues but their hit is not that great, definitely not something that is worth what they cost. I find that a lot of custom cue makers don't have the equipment or the ability to finish the cue well enough or stabilize the wood well enough. I've seen more custom cues warp (butt section) than hi end production cues.
In my collection, most of the custom cues suffer from a wobble, slight or significant due to warped butt. Some suffer from poor finish quality, one even has a loose joint pin.
I take really good care of my cues, they are stored well. they have not been abuse and rarely played with.
I have non of these issues with my hi end production cues.
So, go custom if you collect cues just for their looks, go custom if you really can't find what you want in a hi end production cue or even mid range production (they are really much better than what they have used to be). Go custom if you know the maker and his process and his ability.
Some of today's production cues (well it's been around for a while now) introduce methods to strengthen the butt like splicing the butt, or coring it all the way, or reinforce the construction with composite materials or even not using wood at all... and of course there is the shaft, if you want CF, almost all production companies offer that options.

Of course that there are great cue makers that make great playing cues that hit a ton and could last a lifetime (I have a couple of those as well), but so many of them don't, a lot of the new makers haven't been around that long to prove their durability, so they may play great now, but can't tell how it'll be in 10-20 years.
So, if I was in the market today for a new pool cue, I would go the production route before the custom route. I would stay away from any cue, custom or production that use a propriety joint that would be a pain in the butt (pun intended) to match to different shafts.
I'm curious on knowing where you got your custom cues. Anyway, there are a lot of custom cuemakers or maybe some artisan cuemakers. It really depends if the cuemaker is seasoned or knowledgeable enough as far as the science of a great functional cue as opposed to someone who can only make decorative cues. It is up to find one that are great at both or atleast good.

In the stock market, there are investors and there are traders. Investors focus on the fundamentals of the underlying businesses, primarily with an interest in long-term growth and/or profitability. Traders try to anticipate short-term stock price movements that have little to do with the value of the underlying company. Both investors and traders buy and sell stocks, but they have very different business models.

In the pool cue (or knife, etc.,) market, there are collectors, and there are speculators, with similar differences. Less fortunate speculators learn the hard way that not every limited edition production release is considered collectible, or rare.

I’m with.. 90% of the new cues predator shows I’m a hard nooooo lol but I’m not one for wild colors or a million inlays and complicated designs on my cue’s. I’m sure predator does it to grab attention but it’s not for me.
Predator just launched a new LE cue - Predator LE Avant Garde - Around $4000
SOLD OUT IN MINUTES
Any questions kids?

Yeaa.. to flippers. Then you will find them on eBay and facebook for sale at twice the price. you always see the people who aren’t players complaining because that the flippers by them all up before they can get a chance to buy one. The question was how hard is it for the the flippers to then sell them at a much higher price.

So this is what I’m talking about.. I’m not busting on this guys sale at all.. I’m not saying he’s charging too much. It’s a beautiful cue. It’s a predator cue made by Jacoby so I’m not questioning the work and craftsmanship. $4100 And it’s been on sale since may. Do you think a cue at this price would sell quicker if it didn’t have the predator icon on it. That really cuts down on the available buyers for this cue or might otherwise pull the trigger on this. I’m not a seller so I don’t really know the market for expensive cue’s and how long they sit on the for sale forum before they actually sell. Again I’m not putting down the seller . I hope eventually he gets what he’s asking for. It’s a beautiful cue imo

Joshua Filer posted this image on his FB, looks like 2 new Predator cues that will cost too much...
He used one of them in Bali
