Don't know where to drop this, but in our league, we go for 6 months (20 regular nights) and pay 15/week whether we play or not. we have 50 or so players...the league operator keeps 10% for his trouble. after 20 weeks we have a playoff an the winning team gets about $13,000 to go to the BCA...

I drive about 25 minutes each way, once per week. Some in our league drive an hour one way. I think I am close to my limit.. It's about 10:30 when I get home. I don't like coming home any later than that. Our team captain sends the line up the day before so I know that I will play when I get there.

We had around 40 players and we ran it on 8 tables. It is a lot more work on the TD running a chip tournament

That seems strange to me... I like the idea of let the best player win. I am an average player and I have never won a non handicapped tournament. I have started asking the TD to set my handicap to the max. I don't play in the tournament for the money... That's what my day job is for. I agree...

The chip tournaments that I ran, the winner stayed on the table. We had a couple people with over a 20 game winning streak

It changed hands a couple of times and just closed in the past year. Most recently it was called Dockery Grill. I work with the brother of the most recent owner. They weren't pool players so I think they focused more on the restaurant side. That's a shame because you are right it was a nice...
