O.B. Spotter. The ultimate billiard practice machine!

You need to post a video on your Facebook page or here, so we can actually see how it works. It would be nice to see how it actually places the ball and then how the machine gets out of the way before you shoot.

This Layout Took Me Three Tries

You’re starting shot on the 1 ball was different than the diagram, unless it was ball-in-hand to set the cue ball anywhere you want for the 1 ball.

This Layout Took Me Three Tries

The 1 or 2 cushion for the 3 in the upper left corner is obvious, whichever you feel more comfortable with. I would choose the end cushion with just enough outside to safely avoid running into the 9. The problem with planning on the 4 in the side is that it might not be that easy unless you...

Looks like you are getting your pool movie....

Agreed! Any pool themed movie with DeNiro can’t be a bad thing to increase exposure for the game. I thought he was awesome in the mini series Zero Day, currently on Netflix. However, it does seem to be a storyline that has already been used in a number of previous pool movies.

What's the rule on players talking during a match?

The real question is, especially in a tournament match, whether a player who misses and leaves an easy out, leaves the table making a comment to his opponent insinuating that he just gave you the game. Would such a statement be considered as concession of that game or not? If not, I would...

    107 Breaks & 6 Chances

So what were those break-and-run chance stats before you changed the cloth? If anything, with the new cloth, they should have gotten higher, not lower.

    5x10

We have one 10 foot table in our pool room with 4-1/4” corners. We keep it covered up and I only allow our better players to play / practice on it, which they love to, but not all the time. I have always said that if I practiced on it all the time and felt like I got to playing well, my game...

EYE PATTERN “Best Practices” … Cue Ball or Object Ball Focus Last?

My own experience - at age 68 I gave up on my goal of running 100 balls in 14.1 on a 9-foot table after achieving a high run of 98 roughly 20 years ago. I realized my only chance was to attempt it on our 7-foot Diamond Smart table. I couldn’t manage more than a run of 50-60 after countless...

EYE PATTERN “Best Practices” … Cue Ball or Object Ball Focus Last?

Me too. After 50+ years of object ball last, as a senior player trying to hang on to my game, I’m experiencing success with cue ball last the last few years. I can confirm the precise location I’m striking the cue ball and just as important for me I can confirm the shaft following through...

do the pros outweigh the cons when using quality shaft wax?

I tried but wasn’t crazy about Renaissance, which I felt built up on the shaft after a while, making it stickier. I prefer 3000 grit sandpaper and occasionally wipe it down / clean it off with some isopropyl alcohol on a cloth.

Why are Predator cue extensions so damned expensive?

Because they can, just like everything with the Predator name on it.

    Rule question

If playing CB fouls only, if your opponent touched your ball with the CB while placing it, I would consider that a foul and you have BIH. If he accidentally touched your ball with his hand or cue, you have the option to replace your ball where it was or leave it, which ever option in your...

Tip radius and accidental scooping the cue ball on draw shots

I think you meant miscueing which may result in an intentional jump/scoop? You really should change your title and replace the word scooping with the word miscueing.

Starting again after 20 years - where to start, please?

Based on your above statements it’s hard to figure what level of player you once were or think you were? If you ever played anywhere near pro level at any point in your life, you would never be starting back as anything resembling a beginner, even after 20+ years off.

Starting again after 20 years - where to start, please?

I hate to say age is a factor, but we all know it is, as well as some indication of what level of player you were before your layoff? If you are in your 50s or younger after your 20 year layoff, you have a chance to get your game back as good or better than before. But if you are now in your...
