Reed Pierce playing in Mississippi 9-ball Open

I wish him the best in his comeback, but at 63 and a quarter century since his last significant wins is too long. He may do well in regional events but has no chance against top level competition. For him to even be able to compete with Johnny, Earl or CJ would be a stretch.

Discussion: Focusing on the cue ball compared to other sports

I also switched to focusing on the CB last during the entire stroke for the past few years with considerable success, after having been OB last for 55 years. It’s not for most, but if you are struggling with your shotmaking consistency and commit to CB last for a period of time, you might...

    Audience Sharking (Unintentional, but INSANE?)

I’m guessing this woman in question has likely heard about her bad timing. Hopefully she feels bad about it and has learned from this.

    Audience Sharking (Unintentional, but INSANE?)

It’s not like the woman got up in the middle of her stroke. She had the option to back off until the woman left or sat down, then reset with her preshot routine. Even if there was a shot clock, I would think this would have resulted in a reset shot clock.

What would be the appropriate penalty / fine for such an incident?

    North Carolina Pool Rooms

Country Retreat Family Billiards & Grill in Boone, NC. This year we’re celebrating our 30 year anniversary of our opening - July 1996. No alcohol, no smoking, great food, awesome employees and many loyal customers (many who eat here regularly but never play pool) have kept us going!

I don’t see why you cannot dispute the 26 pound charge when it was only 2 pounds?

Yeah, sounds encouraging, but that 10% is often the difference between winning and losing.

Smoke eaters in pool halls - owner perspectives

Simple solution- If this is your house, I would tell this tenant they cannot smoke on your property, inside or outside. Of course that would need to be stated in the lease agreement.

Best Current Pool Players 70+ Years Old?

You can certainly (and even most likely) due to your decades of experience be a better strategic player, a better position player, a smarter player and a better defensive player at 70 than you were 30-50 years earlier. But in my opinion, in no way are you going to play as consistently and be as...

Best Current Pool Players 70+ Years Old?

Keith McCready will be joining the 70+ club in another year. I’m guessing he still plays pretty sporty? As a generality, at least for myself, the older you get (especially past 60) the closer you have to play your position to the object ball and the better you have to get at playing defense.

Best Current Pool Players 70+ Years Old?

Just curious who are some of the best current living pool players who are at least 70 years old, as far as how well they are still playing right now? Obviously Efren would be near the top of that list. Others that come immediately to mind for me are Nick Varner, Mike Sigel, Jose Parica, Ronnie...

Seeing the contact point on the object ball.

I’m not sure how many players do this, but the contact point on the object ball is meaningless to me and I never look at it at any point before the shot. I see the shot, I see the angle required to make the shot, then I aim to hit whatever portion of the object ball I need to hit to pocket it...

Before I pull the trigger... am I making a mistake?

Much safer to go with Diamonds rather than Rasson tables, for many reasons including resale value. Sorry, but I don’t know what black ball is? If you are going for family friendly with no alcohol, you’d better plan on having a strong food operation with a hood, as that will account for the...

    CJ or The Scorpion?

Clearly Archer 30 years ago, but if they played now it may be a toss up, and I might even give a slight edge to CJ.

Are Junior players being set up for a tough life?

What is really sad is the young players that aren’t even that good and not naturally gifted that say they want to become a pro player. They have absolutely no chance.

    Pool halls

How do you deal with requesting customers to use the correct color of chalk for the various colors of cloth on the tables? I would think if they are using the wrong color of chalk, the chalk marks would be hard to remove, resulting in unsightly tables.

    Professional pool prize funds historically.

The ESPN 9-ball tournament of champions in the late 1990s paid $50,000 to the winner of both the men’s and women’s divisions.

How to Judge SPLIT HITS … Everything You Need to Know

I dispute your assertion that use of an overhead close up slow motion video of the contact would ever result in a errored call.
