So then blanks is what you would make on a lathe. I guess people buy the blanks and add decorations, and then a shaft? Is that right?

I have recently acquired an old, very well-made wood lathe. (Shopsmith) I thought about tinkering around with making cues, and after looking through this collection I am a bit curious as to what exactly a "blank" is? Sorry for the obviously novice question...

I am uploading several cell phone photos in hopes someone may be able to offer a bit more info on my cue. It is a Palmer, bought for $75 back in 1977 at a billiards shop in New Orleans, and it is rather plain, with linen wrap. Any info is much appreciated.

Just found this forum, and this thread. The only cue I've ever owned is a Palmer my father bought for me on my 8th birthday in 1977. I have never had much luck finding anything about it, and it is nice to finally learn a few things about the makers of this great cue. (Happy belated...
