pool cue once in a lifetime buy

It seems to me that if someone is selling their own belongings they have at least some obligation to educate themselves about its value. I’ll acknowledge that valuing a pool cue, particularly to a non-player, can be a little difficult but even a modest internet search, while probably not telling...

(Unnoticed) 9-Ball Foul - Object Ball Out of Order

I hate to say this but I once played a game of 8-ball where I broke and the 8 was pocketed (APA rules, so it was for the win) and neither of us saw it. We played two innings before we noticed. Story is also a testament to my making the 8 on the break so infrequently that I don’t even look for it.

Proposed rules for tournament slow play in One Pocket and Banks

No player should be left with one or two seconds to shoot. You might as well just DQ them. Maybe structure it so that once you are ”out of time” then you shift to a time limit that is really short, like ten seconds to shoot or it’s a foul.

Proposed rules for tournament slow play in One Pocket and Banks

You don’t sound like you’re being unreasonably slow which is admittedly a matter of degree but there is slower than average and there is glacier-slow. Regardless of why someone is playing slow, the effect is the same.

Proposed rules for tournament slow play in One Pocket and Banks

I don’t know much about chess clocks but my sense it each player re-starts time running by simply hitting a button. Adding time for innings completed, more time for later innings, etc. seems a recipe for delay and argument. Time clock like in chess seems like a good idea but you’ve got to keep...

Another “Was this a foul” question

It was kind of like Bob said. He just thought that the rail the ball was frozen to was dead. Not sure that he was confusing it with anything else so much as he was just wrong. I shouldn’t have deferred to him and just trusted my own judgment. Wasn’t worth a hassle.

Another “Was this a foul” question

So SeniorTom posted a question the other day about what constituted a foul. I was recently in a similar situation: An object ball was frozen to a rail. I lightly hit the object ball with the cue ball causing the object ball to roll a few inches out onto the table without contacting another rail...

    Heading to Louisville...

I was in there a few months ago with a friend and we were talking about how big it was. He looked it up on some kind of municipal or government website (I’m not sure what) and it came back at over 33,000 square feet. That’s a big pool hall. They’ve got around 40 tables.

    Cell phone junkies

I’ve been an attorney in the criminal justice system for more than forty years. What you are describing is not overstated at all. True privacy is dead and buried in the modern world and we gave it all away one click at a time.

Largest Pool Halls in the USA?

Diamonds in the Highlands in Louisville closed after Covid and re-opened under a new owner as The Railyard. They more than doubled the number of tables. It now has more than 30 Diamond bar boxes and maybe half a dozen 9 footers.
