Posting about 1 foot on the floor on FB

This would get you banned for life at any room I ever played in.

96 Pounds of Dynamite is a must-watch billiards documentary

Reminds me of a (late) crippled jockey with IBS issues that I used to butt heads with (I’d be surprised if he weighed all of 96#s). Extremely strong/game player with a lot of gamble, who would never accept a spot from anyone, even after being largely confined to a wheelchair. He inspired me to...

    Straight pool - dead ones

The condition of the balls is also paramount. Scratched-up/dirty mud balls would throw like crazy if frozen, especially with the right english applied.

    I like Earl’s new insanity.

I once frequented a room that ran a regular golf ring-game on a 10’ (Brunswick) snooker table, using pool balls. Very entertaining. It obviously had standard billiard cloth also, as British style directional cloth (typical for 12’ tables) would have been noticeable. I can imagine how...

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

True enough. You never know what spider is just waiting for an innocent fly 😁. Personally, I never laid down, or pushed to up the stakes. Though a ‘gambler’ at heart (propensity to turn whitey loose, just to see what would happen), I never wanted to ‘gamble’ at pool, but only ever interested in...

If you live in the SouthWest beware of this HUSTLER.

The world has certainly changed. Where I live, because I’m better than most everyone else, I’m labeled a ‘shark’, or a ‘hustler’ if I suggest a little friendly action. No sized spot will tempt them either. Growing up, I could never resist that kind of challenge. Now, regardless of how tiny the...

Templates Work The Best For Racking But I Hate Them.

I doubt the pros setting new 14.1 high-run records could manage it without a template (?). Mud balls gathered in a crude triangle was a different game, for sure.

Templates Work The Best For Racking But I Hate Them.

Placing balls one-at-a-time is akin to shagging them from the pockets. I resist both chores if avoidable. I also refused the inserts for my Delta. Deep finger grooves should be a mandatory feature in every rack.

    Twilight Zone...a game of pool

I have a feeling of Déjà Vu re: this issue, but regardless…I only ever played rotation as a single rack game (to 61 points), never continuous, and never racked with the center ball missing (?!). Also, much like 8 ball, I’ve never seen a pro break safe. Object being to make a ball and then run...

    Unsportsmanlike Conduct Rule

For many years, 14.1 players I encountered took intentional fouls by merely touching the CB with the tip without moving it. The official rules however, require that the shot be ‘stroked’. I assume, if YOUR opponent committed that ‘un-stroked’ foul in a non-refereed match, you would probably just...

    Chicago pool happenings

Or possibly, those that warned me ‘made it up’. Finding bullet holes in your car always makes the news? Maybe in Dogpatch.

    Unsportsmanlike Conduct Rule

He then lags the CB two cushions into the rear of the rack, braking a ball loose, and thus preventing you from leaving him down-table again (more orthodox play).

    Chicago pool happenings

In the early 70s, driving past there on North Ave. (?) was reputedly sometimes risky, as apartment dwellers on the upper floors would take pot shots at distant cars from the balconies.

    Table Light Recommendations

My 8’ fluorescent ‘library’ shop light fixture with 2 LED bulbs still seems adequate, and was fairly cheap. But then, I had low ceiling ductwork issues that limited space.
