    Cuetable alternative???

Winston846, Do you have a link for the setup that you're describing above? I also run linux and cannot use cuetable. If I can get it set up on my end, i may be able to assist. Also, I thought of using VMWare before, but it was slow. I may try qemu if I can't get wine/ff/shockwave working. eldowan

So..you want a professional lesson? (LONG post)

Mattie, I agree with the above quotes whole heartedly. I had the pleasure of having Scott Lee's instruction, and will reccommed without question his services to anyone who is genuinely looking for quality instruction. Scott, If you're still reading, I'm still reaping the benifits from the half...

    Low Deflection Shaft for Beginner

Thanks for the elaboration, It's given me quite a few things to [re]think over.

    Low Deflection Shaft for Beginner

I agree that LD shafts are not necessary. Neither is using a jump cue, or swerving the cue ball around an obsticle. This does not mean, however, that they have no benefit. I do not understand what this has to do with anything. We have seen the greats of the past, before there were anything but...

    stun stroke

My shot in the dark: When you are at the end of your back stroke, just before the forward stroke begins, you accelerate the cue until its maximum speed before impact with the cue ball (assuming hitting at cruising speed). When you are decelerating before impact, you are making a change in which...

anyone play with a phenolic tip?

Good to see you are still at it. I don't get the chance to play with my buddies phenolic tip much anymore, but I'm sure happy to see someone has the chance to keep it up.

    Focus on Focus

What a great summary. This explains why I can just drop into a pool room, grab a cue off the wall, and start sinking balls and getting shape without a second thought. During this time, I notice that I'm doing much better that I usually would, and just never could put my finger on the reason why...

anyone play with a phenolic tip?

Whenever I get the chance to play with a phenolic tipped shaft, I take it with enthusiasm. I do not have any issues using english, draw, or follow. I play around the same speed with the phenolic or regular tips. I've found that I really like the way a phenolic hits, and even made a post on the...

    $100 Spin Challenge

This is assinine, If people weren't looking for, and creating, new technology that works more accurately more consistently, I guess you'd be fine driving a Model T around town, and would wonder at the marvel that is the internet. After all, this forum is just the easy way out to a face to face...

    everything one pocket

This is an interesting concept. How would you go about winning if you cannot pocket any balls by called shots, or put the 8 in a pocket? Please elaborate, I'd love to hear more of the idea.

    Heavy vs. Light Cues...

I'm not sure I agree with the idea that 'follow through' has an effect on anything. I think that while the heavier cue may have a very slight increase in contact time with the cue ball, it is not significant enough to impart any more useful force. If what you are saying is true, that many...

Check out the discovery channel right now!

Well that sucks that they didn't go in depth on many things. OTOH, I record the show because I like it for what it is. Thanks for the review on the pool segment.

Time Warp is doing a section on pool Wed. this week at 7PM CST on Discovery. The show routinely captures video at 10,000 frames per second, and should be interesting to watch some of the clips. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=1.15470.25889.33761.5

    Houston, TX

Yes, on the north side Bogies is nice, though I've never been to Fast Eddie's. SpiderWebComm, any idea where you will be playing? I'm no gambler, but I love to play the game as well as I can... However, it seems there are at least a few Houston AZers here. Why haven't I seen a thread getting...
