New pool training app just launched

IMHO the markers can be a hindrance. They may be useful to absolute beginners, but you need to move on quickly. It's better to set the balls up slightly differently each time, so that you're learning the entire aiming process, not just memorizing where you hit the ball last.

    DCC shot clock

You can't have a shot clock on tables where you might have to wait on someone at another table to shoot. So, the choice would be 1/3 or 1/4th the total number of tables, or just no shot clock.

    DCC shot clock

The TV table matches involve a lot more people: announcer, camera operators, commentators, ref, communications, not to mention the much larger in person and on-line audience. So there is a good incentive to make sure it doesn't go 4+ hours. It would be great to have all that for all tables...

My first DCC trip this year

There has been talk of adding a ferry to shuttle people back and forth. But political issues of building something in Louisville to support an Indiana business make it problematic.

Derby City 2025 - AZ Posters Say Hey

I'll be there the whole time. I'm local, so pretty excited to have it so close.

    Streaming 2025 Derby City

Last year every table on the first floor had a camera and random YouTuber could buy the stream. PA Pro Am Pool was one. Fedor did not stream his matches himself.

My first DCC trip this year

After tournament play is over, they lock the tables to coin op play. $1/game IIRC. There is a room dedicated to coin op non-tournament play, and an action room or two. There is also a 10 ball tournament that starts on the first Friday, which fills in the boredom from the banks tournament. It...

    DIY Pool Table Light

I was skeptical that it would help, but think I'm sold on the idea of a grid. Photo doesn't really do justice to the impact it makes.

    DIY Pool Table Light

I'm not sure how much it would help, as you tend to get reflections off the grid too. But should be easy enough to 3d printing something as an experiment, so I might give it a try. I wear glasses too, and had issues with reflections at first, but must have gotten used to dealing with them, as I...

2025 DERBY CITY ALL 3 FINALS ON LAST SUNDAY THOUGHTS....

It just makes it official, the 9 Ball final finished about 11am Sunday in 2024, after 26 hours of continuous play. This just gives them room for a break I guess. They still won't be able to stick to a solid schedule though. E.g the Libutis match before the final took 3 hours. So I think the...

    DIY Pool Table Light

That's kinda missing the point of a perimeter light. The point isn't to light the table efficiently, it's to eliminate shadows. Lighting the table from the center means you'll be looking into a shadow for everything closer than half the table away. I've never seen a room full of them, but for...

    DIY Pool Table Light

You can get the LED strips themselves on ebay even cheaper than the tube lights, you'll just have to supply a 120v ac to 12v dc converter (Ebay also). I bought one of the perimeter lights even though I am a DIYer. There wouldn't have been much savings when I priced mine out. The aluminum...

    Pagulayan Chalk Allergy??

Getting an allergy test wouldn't be a bad idea to narrow down what it is. Also, you might be developing new allergies, and it's always a good idea to know what they are.

    One Pocket Timing

The only possible fair solution is a chess clock. I really don't see why that isn't the standard already as it is with any long thinking game, even Scrabble. Each player starts with 60 minutes. You sit down, punch the clock, your opponent gets a delay of say 30 seconds before their clock...
