    Jump RODS

The ones I remember in the Philadelphia area were mass produced. (or most likely "mass produced" by 1-2 people in a small shop). They were if I recall a light weight hollow aluminum tube, no taper, and about the diameter of a quarter. They had a plastic tip on the end. They had some sort of logo...

cue/shaft orientation as you shoot, facing one way every single time!

I think shaft orientation is one of the biggest crock of bs out there. If it made any difference, no one would have made a ball before the radial laminated shafts came out.

It was sold for the Canadian market. Different ads, lost to time. Have you ever in your life seen an ad for a 12' GC Snooker table? I know I haven't. Yet there are many out there IN Canada.

I don't think there is any way this table was originally a pool table and later converted to a snooker table. Why do we go with complicated theories instead of simply it was always a snooker table? IDK when snooker slate cuts became standardized, but if you go from at least 1950 to today, this...

    pool has changed

I just watched a Women's event from NY on Youtube last night that was played on GC1's. They were kept in tip top shape, simonis, etc. Rails were not bouncy, played great.

    pool has changed

Only the Diamonds are like that, due to their super bouncy cushions. However, Diamonds are like 90% of tournament play these days.

He ordered the "League-Cut" not the "Pro-Cut" pockets.

Solutions for small-scale local one pocket tournaments

I don't think one hole players like one hole tournaments, period. We had a 5k added one hole event in Philadelphia 2 years ago. Open, I think $100 entry range. It was well advertised, well run, in the biggest room in town, known for gambling one hole players. This town has one hole players...

In all the years we've been on AZB, I don't recall any member ever buying an antique like this, and writing about it. The people here are the biggest pool phanatics in the world. You'd figure one of us would have the combo of "love pool, love antiques, has money to burn". But I don't think its...

Solutions for small-scale local one pocket tournaments

Race to 2, single elimination. Try that and see how it goes. Double elimination takes forever in 9 ball, don't even attempt it in one pocket. One pocket tournaments rarely draw a lot of players. I doubt you'd get 16 at a local small event. Are you in Europe?

Pro Pocket Size TOO Small for 9 Ball

Pockets should go back to 5". There was ZERO wrong with them. Look at any Accu-Stats matches from the 1980s to 2000's on Gold Crowns and that's what they had. Those matches were more exciting than today's. 4.5" is good for the 1 hole players that want to dink the balls around. All the other...

    Help with ferrule material

I think they are generically called "fiber ferrules". If you go to Chris Hightower's site (cuemanbilliards) he sells them. (Or used to 15 years ago last time I checked. He will know for sure what they are.

IDK how universal that is or just "most don't have diamonds"? GC1 5x10 snooker tables have one sight per rail. But I've also seen two of them (pictures here on AZB years ago) that had all the sights.

It was horrible. On couches that were daily used, usually a heavy knitted throw blanket would be over the clear plastic. In the formal room that no one used, the clear plastic would be on full display.

From what we can see in the pictures, it looks complete, and not in bad shape. What's there to restore? Maybe just clean the parts, set it up and play it?
