Parents moved to Phoenix when I was a baby. Spent a lot of time in local pool rooms on west side, golden cue and golden eight ball. Lots of good road players came to Phoenix in winter (too cold and wet in east and north). UJ Puckett tried to hustle me when I was a teenager.

Uncomfortable feeling. Need more space around table to shoot, need room for some chairs ( don’t think players want to stand), and lighting is questionable. In a way it’s sad, you have so much money but room is not going to be used.

So many variables, weight, balance point, sound of hit, wrap material and feel, no wrap, even feel of shaft. All these contribute to a players comfort level to assess the HIT they want. What I like for me is not the same for the ladies who want a cue for themselves or a big taller man.

Prayers for complete recovery. Enjoyed watching Mika play, and want to see him up and playing again.

Looking for a healthy, safe, happy 2024 new year for everyone.

John and his son moved to Scottsdale, AZ, probably 30 yrs ago. I still lived in Phoenix. Went to see him to learn how he built cues. He locked me out of his shop, was NOT going to let me in or talk to me. We did talk, bought a piece of equipment from him, told him I just had some questions...

Have a horse mule story for you all. Neighbors run cows and have a backpacking outfit (4th generation). Last couple years they have used my pasture (keeps fire danger down). Sometimes as many as 20 with more mules than horses. Between trips their stock is my pasture. When the “new hands”...

Hope everything is ok with Bruce and Kathy. The man just loves all things pool.

Rest in peace my friend. Met John in CA many years ago and played him. Always a gentleman. Talked to him many times over the years, enjoyed the conversations and the memories. He was a role model for the game. Will miss the phone calls. Prayers for his family. Loved the man.

Still at it. Beautiful fall in the mountains, a few deer, turkeys, pheasants, grouse family. The griz are out and about getting apples off trees, but not in my yard (of course I am not out wandering around in the night…it’s bear time). Off subject. Jack Madden
