efren did 81 I remember reading a thread here that Efren broke, took ball in hand, and ran out 81 out of a 100 times.

thanks sjm...while the break might definitely mean more to bustamante than me, if you have two mostly evenly matched players, wouldn't it be possible to give a less than exact estimate? i know some guys will give last three and not the seven, or last two and but not the 8...I suppose, given that...

Has anyone ever seen a chart of how you'd rate different spots against each other? Obviously the 6 gives more weight than giving the 8, but how would you rank the last 3 vs the 7 and the break, etc....i'd be interested to see a running chart of the various combinations......or even a list...

definitely good points...why do so many pros do the soft break then? only with a sardo rack? i noticed at times when i'd go for the one i'd miss, but i'd make a ball and the one would bank towards the corner pocket...i think that's the way to go...

if i hit the 1 full and hard it'll fly off and not necessarily stay in a good place...as we all know, bustamante has one of, if not the best, breaks in the game...i've seen him nail the rack, make the one, other balls as well, and have great position on the two...so ideally i'll be able to...

I don't play 9-ball that much, but after reading about peoples high runs, and realizing that I hadn't broke and run out in 9 ball in forever, IF ever, I set about to practice...I eventually got into a groove and ran a rack out... It took a while and some experiementation but I ended up getting...

is it common for pros to make a ball off the break? or do they concentrate more on the position of the cue ball and push of balls towards their pocket?

where's your shot? unless i'm missing something, the breaker breaks to his pocket, top left corner, and leaves the cue behidn the stack with no balls near his pocket...i tried this a few times yesterday and it really gave me an advantage....

thx troy, missed that for a sec...so it seems like there's definitely a specific break that's desired...a pretty specific place to leave the cue, and those two balls, high and low, near your pocket.....will have to try it and see what happens...

ahh, nice thought...so, that first ball clip is basically the standard, eh? ideally where do you want the cue, and how many balls do you plan on moving...just trying to get an idea of how hard to hit...
