Thanks, Chris. That sure means a lot coming from you!

All great suggestions. And yeah, those linear rails do make more sense than the round ones. That style seems to be common on Voron builds (which I would love to do a tool changer one day! - Whole different topic.) I So far everything on this lathe (edit: said printer) has been done with...

Thanks Chuck, do you have a link for that for future reference?

You're right, the carriage has give in the delrin wheels moving it back and forth. They are what allow the back and forth movement along the x-axis by riding in the v-slots, and are adjusted with a cammed nut/bolt. You mentioned round rails being the issue though... which is interesting...

Thanks. It is small, you are correct. I don't have a plan to upgrade it yet, havent ran into any issues where it was a weak point, but also I have limited seat time. I'm still taking baby passes with it on everything that I do, partly due to being cautious, but mostly due to the chatter I...

Cue Repair Lathe - Made mostly from hobby CNC and 3D printed parts.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm hoping that this will be able to do ferrules. That's the next step in my journey, I just need to order some materials. I've been meaning to check the runout at the headstock with my dial indicator, just haven't done that yet. I think that it shouldn't be an...

Cue Repair Lathe - Made mostly from hobby CNC and 3D printed parts.

Ok, so you probably saw my other thread where I got myself in trouble with the collar that got stuck on a shaft due to using the wrong adhesive... anyways, I figure I might as well introduce myself and share some pictures of my project. You'll probably see me here quite a bit asking questions...

Ring on shaft got stuck while repairing

You all are absolutely right about the correct adhesive, and I should have known better. I've got quite a bit of woodworking experience and deal with PVA (mostly), hide glue, and epoxy some. However superglue is something I just haven't used a lot, other than putting trinkets back together, or...

Ring on shaft got stuck while repairing

Absolutely appreciate the advice, I do know a long journey is ahead of me. I've been lurking on here for a while, and the more I have read, the more I realize I need to learn... I feel like this is a right of passage, or at least I'm telling myself that. I talked to my buddy, and he said he's...

Ring on shaft got stuck while repairing

Yea I figured that's what you guys were gonna say. I think I got what it takes to see this one through. That's the route I'm going to suggest. Like I said though, I'm a greenhorn at cue repairs, but plan to shine eventually. The next thing is terminology sourcing the materials. This joint ring...

Ring on shaft got stuck while repairing

Ok, rookie mistake. I am new to cue repair, and I was helping a buddy out by putting a tip on his cue. That went real well. He also had this ring that kept falling off at the end of the shaft. I thought it would be a great idea to just put a couple drops of super glue on it and slide it on...

Not yet. I messaged the guy, I'll know more when he replies. Hopefully we can strike a deal. Thanks!

Building Replacement Gold Crown I Aprons

Hey rexus31, thanks for the reply. I'm actually on that group and have been keeping my eye out on there as well. Just saw you stuck your neck out for me by asking. Thanks, looks like a guy might have something. I'm not against buying them if the price is right. This is actually for a table...

    New Here? - Introduce Yourself

Hi all, guess I better introduce myself too. I'm from the midwest and as all of you, love to shoot some stick! I became hooked when I was in high school and as soon as my career started and life took over it took the backburner for 15+ years, rarely picking up my cue. Fast forward to 2020, we...

Building Replacement Gold Crown I Aprons

Has anyone here built GC1 aprons from scratch? We're in the process of restoring one of these tables and that's really the only pieces we didn't receive during the purchase (25 dollar storage unit find, they are long gone). We even got the plastic skirts that go underneath the wood aprons too...
