    Advantage of internet

Internet, a mixed blessing for my game The internet has been entertaining, but it seems in some ways been a distraction for my game. Looking back, I don't need to read people argue over a aiming technique, read about who owes who money, look at cues I can't afford, etc. There can be a lot of...

    Video of me playing pool

Todd Martin can play speaking of celebrities.....I was on vacation in NYC and I played some pool solo at Amsterdam Billiards to pass the time. I asked the tall gentleman at the table next to me to play, as he was pretty dang good, banking in balls, running out, probably an A player or close to...

A line of very reasonable priced custom cues from the Northwest

This is a sample of some of the cues that have been built by EC Custom Cues, a local cue maker from Portland, Oregon. I met him and he does good work and is a real nice guy so I thought I would shine a little light on him. This is just a small sample he showed me and it had some beautiful and...

    Cork wraps

Cork Wrap The cork wrap is certainly a unique feeling. One advantage is that you grip hand stays pretty dry as the wrap absorbs moisture. I think it feels great. People always joked that my cue looked like a fishing pole as with the cork wrap. The wrap gave my cue a nice vintage look. The...

Help with cue identification and information regarding a vintage Viking

I am looking at this vintage Viking cue and it has raised some questions for me. I looked it up in the value book and found two cues for which it looks similar two, one being from 1983 and the other one a little older. However, the diamond inlays are slightly crooked and not very sharp. One of...

question for those playing 30+ hours/week

wow! Over thirty hours? At one point I played around 30 hours a week, maybe more. It seems for me, I reached a point where I now burn out after 3 hours or so in one sitting. Its crazy to think back on the 12 hour marathon sessions I used to have. Surprisingly enough, my game is still sharp at...

    sTALEV VS. kIAMCO

amazing demeanor I think it is awesome to see someone as cool, calm, and collected as Stalev. I come from an environment where I see grown men throw tantrums and argue at the local $5 tournament and I wish I would see more professionalism like Stalev. Either that or he is really bored!

Anyone buy the Spider Laser Training aid?

A guy at the pool hall bought one way back I tried it out, It seemed a bit cumbersome to set up. I think it helps equivalent to using an actual ball as a "ghost ball" behind your object ball when working on a difficult shot, so I can see the value in it for a player who is starting out, and I...

Pool playing robot! Jewett and Dr. Dave eat your hearts out!!!

learning device The "augmented pool" section of the video shows what could be an excellent learning tool. It kinda reminds me of that "spider" laser device that used to be sold. I saw this vid and I though fellow AZers would get a kick out of it.

Pool playing robot! Jewett and Dr. Dave eat your hearts out!!!

This is some sick stuff! Apparently this robot is quickly becoming an A player and giving us humans the 7 ball! http://www.neatorama.com/2009/09/18/pool-playing-robot/

    How to combat self-anger?

when i get pissed I just remember that I am hitting little balls around a table with a stick and that usually puts the game into perspective for me:) It also helps that I don't like to gamble so the game is about learning, competition, etc and not my rent money on the line.

    Tipping on pool time

pool hall vs bar Thanks for the responses. I usually don't tip much at the pool hall but when I am at other locations that are more like a bar with tables, I feel more obligated to tip, even when the counter person did not do more than slide a tray of balls over to me. Also, if I order food...

    Tipping on pool time

I think this question will make me sound like more of a nit than I am. I have been trying to save money lately due to circumstances and I wonder if other people customarily tip the bartender on pool time when no food and drinks are ordered. Pleases share your thoughts.

Anyone heard of or know Johnny Henson?

Not impressed I know someone who took a lesson off him and was not impressed. For the amount he charges, $1000, I think better lessons could be had elsewhere
