Is it 'normal' for the cue ball to jump off the rail on an 8' valley (or any table) when shot at reasonably normal speeds?

APA yes, big cue balls, no. The side pockets also reject clean shots with even medium force, but I can live with that. However, not being able to trust the end rails just doesn't seem right. @Sheldon What was the verdict in that thread? Not sure I caught it. A design flaw or an installation problem?

Is it 'normal' for the cue ball to jump off the rail on an 8' valley (or any table) when shot at reasonably normal speeds?

Now I'm stumped. Our LO is sticking to his guns and says that's just how they play. All the valleys in our area, not just this venue, even right after table maintenance. It's blowing me away.

Thanks folks. I knew the answer, but I wanted a little something to take back to the league operator. Thanks again.

Is it 'normal' for the cue ball to jump off the rail on an 8' valley (or any table) when shot at reasonably normal speeds?

I complained about poor maintenance on a venue's 8' Valleys. For example, a table length kick shot at just above pocket speed for a ball in front of an end pocket. Would you expect that the cue ball would 'hop' very noticeably off the rail? Our league operator says that's the way Valleys have...

Where to 'introduce' a new pool app?

Thanks. I think. I'm an infrequent participant here and I've never even wondered who owns the site. I was simply trying to be polite and find the right place (forum, etc.) to tell the players about some new software (when the time comes). Right now, I only have the Windows version (mostly)...

Where to 'introduce' a new pool app?

Is there a specific forum or area in which I could introduce a new pool app to this audience? The Marketplace isn't what I'm looking for - I just want a spot to say 'hey folks, check this out' - without it being considered spam. FWIW, this app will be for serious players who want to track drill...

    TPA versus Fargo

I was quoting Billy Incardona from a match (forget now - probably in the 90's or so). Now I'm curious as to when it unofficially rose to .850.

    TPA versus Fargo

Hmm, as I understand it, less than 20 players in the world have a Fargo over 800. Yet averaging an .800 TPA won't win most pro tournaments these days - if any.

...And People Complain about $20 Chalk...

    Too funny!

    TPA versus Fargo

First, yes, I know. TPA applies to a match, Fargo applies to overall results over time. And TPA doesn't take an opponent's skill into account. But I'm curious. If someone maintains an 'average' TPA of .800 (what used to be called world-class), what might their equivalent Fargo be?

    Derby City 9 ball racking?

Oh, right. Second dumb question of the day. I looked up a video from 2022 and of course instantly saw which ball set they were using. Mostly anyway. My ball set in those colors has a red spot cue ball, but this is good. And I @hang-the-9 I agree. There is no reason a veteran of the game should...

    Derby City 9 ball racking?

Sorry, didn't see a way to delete/remove this. I found the answer to my original question. But now :) does anyone know which ball set they use?

    Derby City 9 ball racking?

This will be my first time there. Anyone know if they rack normally, or 9 on the spot? I see they are using the break box. Racking on the spot would certainly change how I practice though. Anyone know?

What do you do when you're lost?

Thanks. I agree. I have the book.

What do you do when you're lost?

Thanks. I've been working lately on simplifying my game (some). I use english on pretty much every shot to get precise positioning. As a result, I never miss shape but I do miss shots (though this isn't the reason for the debilitating play of the last couple of weeks). Since most opponents won't...
