    John Schmidt runs 820

You are wrong on several counts. The tables were not "prepped for him -- he probably got new cloth, that's it. And, he was not constantly making high run attempts -- he was playing a local to 125. He'd often play a low percentage shot like the front ball into the side, or a corner ball one...

    John Schmidt runs 820

Totally different scenarios. Mosconi might have had new cloth — that’s about it. He walked into a new room, spectators, unknown temp and humidity, shot, and set his record. What’s going on now are specially set up tables, templates, and *endless* attempts. IOWs, current attempts are being...

    John Schmidt runs 820

I really don't think anyone who knows even just a little bit about pool and 14.1 believes these plastic runs, on specially setup tables with perfect conditions, have much to do with the true 14.1 high run record. What we are seeing are runs, with *endless attempts,* on equipment and with...

    John Schmidt runs 820

hmmmm, think it was on a GC2. To me, what was especially impressive was that he pretty much did it shooting at five pockets because the right corner pocket up table was grafted up, so he played patterns to avoid shooting at it. Lou Figueroa

Nobody plays it. I practice it most days and people are always coming up and asking what the hell I'm doing with the break shots. So what it would take is someone who loves the game and has a bunch of money he's interested in burning through. I flew out to NYC in 2000 to watch the US 14.1...

Well, you’ve painted and extreme scenario which obviously isn’t what I’m talking about. Lou Figueroa

Unaware of mismatched ball sets in upcoming tournament.

Would probably play but would not go back. Over the years I’ve had to deal with mis-matched ball sets; being assigned a match on a GC, with the next match on a Diamond; old cloth on one table, new on the next; tight pockets on one table, buckets for the next match. I’m told there’s a pool hall...

I think that if you're on bucket tables you will get better but not so much when you have to play on tight equipment. Whereas the player used to tighter equipment will always be able to adjust to bucket tables. The guy used to bucket tables playing on tighter equipment, not so much. Lou Figueroa

    Careful Criticizing CSI Org

Regrettably, this is what things have come to. You don't like what someone is saying about you, and you have the stick... you cudgel them to death to silence them and anyone else vaguely thinking of speaking their mind. It is the sign of a thin skin and that you're probably doing something...

    Relaxed vs raised shoulder?

My opinion is that there are only so many things you can work on to improve your stroke -- and shoulders and elbows are pretty much going to do what they gonna do. I think the four key elements to focus on are: footwork, head position, grip, and bridges. If you work on those everything else...

    Relaxed vs raised shoulder?

Of all the things involved with executing a good stroke I think my shoulder would be one of the last things I'd worry about, lol. Lou Figueroa

    Griff's 2026 US Open events

Was actually considering going to the 1pocket but they are *impossible* to get timely info from so I decided on another event. Nothing online and you call and get know-nothing bartenders who know zippo and no return calls from the manager. Lou Figueroa
