I think you can be said to have a straight bridge arm without a locked elbow. I would speculate that the bent arm for rail shots allows them to get their heads lower for sighting. Lou Figueroa

The shot I saw, the player's arm didn't just have a bend in it, it was bent -- like there was an angle. It just jumped out after watching so many other *snooker* players. Lou Figueroa
