Oddly enough, I just had a Kamui black hard tip installed on my AG playing cue shafts. It feels a lot softer than the cue's original hard leather tips, and it definitely grips the cue ball better, but not sure how well it will hold up over time since I do break with it as well.

Believe me, you're not alone on the cue image reposting front. I've lost count on how many times I've posted my playing cue images here, but the newer smart phones have dramatically better cameras than when I first purchased my cues 15+ years ago, so pictures of the same cues just keep getting...

My AG playing cue is basically an 8 pointer ebony spliced into BE maple, with a few extra inlays ;)

I've never had any doubts that I could play with my cue anywhere in the US. What was unclear were the rules of shipping an ivory inlayed cue for repair purposes from an ivory-ban state... how do I prove that this is a repair job as opposed to an illicit sale? I've even seen posts recommending...

EDIT: Some textured wraps like gator tend to hide the seam more easily. Andy Gilbert did an awesome job on my cue's gator skin wrap. I still have to look pretty close to spot the seam on my 2005 AG cue. Then again, my eyesight isn't all that great anymore!

Thx for clearing that up, though I only read posts here every so often, so I missed the first 6+ times you commented on this. At least I know that when the time comes, I can actually get my cues repaired. My actual worst fear is taking cues with me on a flight... has to be checked luggage, and...

My AG cue inlays are all pre-ban scrimmed elephant ivory that would be protected under clear coat, so I did go that route since it did not cost anything extra back in 2005. Now it's more of a liability since the cue could be confiscated by customs if it crosses state lines for any repair work...

I should have asked for this feature when my cue was ordered, even if it was just decorative. Andy did ask if I wanted to upgrade to and ivory join and butt cap, but I chose SS and delrin since I wanted materials that could withstand some mishaps.

Love that cue. This particular McDaniel design was one I was considering purchasing before eventually going a slightly different route with my 2005 Gilbert.

My work place's pool table just got new cloth + pockets... here's my cues enjoying the new scenery: The Gilbert shaft also got upgraded to a Kamui black hard tip. Wow what a difference in performance.
