It is scientifically provable and I think it matters to an extent, but I don't think something like 1.5 vs 1.75 inches on the maximum squirt test is going to make much of a difference for even elite players. Joss now makes carbon shafts, I wonder how they are.

I would say that you could argue CF has objectively superior non-performance related characteristics, like durability and ease of cleanliness. However feel is subjective and even deflection is not an end all here. There are low deflection wood shafts and maybe some elite players actually want...

How would I even isolate the shaft as being the cause of improvement? I would hope that I am simply more skilled by the end of that time period regardless of what shaft I'm using.
