Is a Straight Stroke All That Important?

It's all about what kind of tolerances you're working with. I think for a very serious player, it IS that important. Pocketing comes to mind first, but stroking straight effects virtually all aspects of the game. From accuracy of lines, safety play especially thinning balls, slow-rolling, to...

bye bye ustream.tv, justin.tv & livestream.tv? Can we do it?

The promise of your service is increased advertising revenues through consolidation. But, it sounds like you don't have any advertisers right now. With nothing up front, that's a big risk to the people doing the streaming in more ways than one. Say TAR is already paid directly for...

    Tried out aiming system today

I test drove the aiming system described by Mohrt this morning and I'll try to give an honest opinion on it. Does it Work? Yes. I've only tried it with centerball hits so far, but it did work. I tried many shots with the different cut thicknesses and they all worked. I also picked a few...

Can you become a AA/world beater at the age of 40'sh....

Just my opinion, but I think it's possible with the right mindset. Like someone else said you'll need to be highly motivated with a plan - to get to A speed. But beyond that you'll also need physical and mental talent. From an apa 6 starting point there's a ton of catching up to do in...

    Compared to executive west days?

I haven't gone for years, but I'm thinking about going next year and have a few questions. How does DCC at the casino stack up to the executive west days? Are there still as many mini's and is it still tough to find a table?

    Elbow thoughts

Kryche - search for "stroke instructor challenge" for my input. In short, I agree that having the elbow inside of the shoulder is the way to go and the vast majority of champions have that stroke alignment. That's a very interesting conclusion lol

I Just Don't Think They See It

I don't use aiming/pocketing systems. Several people I shoot with do. Both approaches seem to work fine. But I also don't delude myself into thinking that it's snake oil since a ton of top pros do and it is VERY easy to spot. To each their own.

    Gambler vs non gambler

The gambler wins by 4 going to 13. Even if the tournament player has 30+ events under his belt, he's unseasoned and can't win with 3 on the wire.

TAR Podcast #8 with Shane Van Boening Tonight at 9 PM Est. Any Questions for SVB?

@Shane - How much of a threat would Earl be if he worked on his break? @Both - Earl made a comment about playing 2 tips off center for most shots in a previous interview. What are your takes on that? @Both - What do you think the pros and cons of playing best of 3 to 25 versus race to 75 or 100?

What do you think of this absurd comment

Wow my hat's off to Don, sounds like he was quite the man of leisure and certainly has an interesting and unique perspective. But I get the impression that while he was a top pro jack of all trades, he wasn't quite good enough to really know the skill gap between top pros across the games. I...

TAR 22 Post-Match with Earl & Joe Rogan

Earl seems to think that because a sport is difficult, it's top players are entitled to something. It's a shame that there isn't more money in pool, but that's reality and all the whining in the world won't make pool more lucrative to TV networks. Also it wasn't necessary to degrade other...

Good for your game or Bad for your game.

In my experience it helps especially with maintaining your concentration. And it's not just about pocketing balls. It forces you to stay in line and punishes you for trying to do extra. So in a way it highlights little things that you might not otherwise pay attention to like playing a little...
