There is a third option Ironwood. It's basically from the Mezz range and nowhere else. I cannot find an opinion on this wood anywhere on the web!?!

WOW! Beautiful cue :smile: The problem is, I can't find any close up pictures of the Mezz EC7 cues? I clearly prefer the dark exotic woods, such as cocobolo, wenge, ironwood and rose wood. Oh and BTW BHQ, I love the white butt cap and joint contrast on that cue :)

Thanks BBB I did wonder about wenge as a viable material. My generic search on google came up with many pics and info on high quality walking canes and not much on cues? :) Rosewood is by far, more common wood in cues.

Thank you for your wonderful insight Tom :) It seems I haven't had nowhere near enough experience with various cues! My current cue has the butt in cocobolo merging into a maple forearm. I guess this 'merging' would also lend to a different, maybe lighter/crisper hit? It appears that Mezz EC7...

Hi guys I'm about to buy a Mezz EC7 cue and need to make a choice between wenge or rosewood? I understand that wenge is harvested from The Congo, Africa and rosewood from a variety of places, but I guess my question is... Do they play any different? My current cue is a Schmelke cocobolo...

Firstly, I definitely won't be breaking with this cue. I appreciate what you said Black-Balled, that a bare wood/ wood cue is far more likely to split over time, but by 'that time' I will have bought a gorgeous custom made, multi-wooden exotic cue... maybe :) The reason I bought a Sneaky Pete...
