Hello all,
I did some searching here and was not able to come up with an answer so here goes.
I have a cue fitted to accept a Predator QR extension and am looking to make one but have some questions:
I am a semi-novice woodworker and have a capable wood lathe (not cue lathe). I also have 32mm...
I appreciate the response. The tip is just about a week old but probably 40 hours of play on it in that time. My previous tip changes felt like they had broken in well before this mark. I suppose it could break in further and will continue playing on it for the next 3-4 days anyway since I cant...
I completely understand this. I have been playing since the 80s and the change to LD and then CF shafts was a jarring one, and it took a considerable amount of time (old dog, new tricks). I have since grown to like the CF shaft but the main benefit for me is the fact that it will never get a...
Thank you for your response. I guess I had it in my head that most players went with a *softer* tip upon moving to CF shafts. I always shot with medium on my wooden ones and would be more than happy to give them a try on the CF shaft.
Nice to know that I am not the only one. I had actually wanted the Clear Black but he was out of them at the moment so I went with what he had...the Kamui Brown Soft. I did not realize that there was such a substantial difference between the two and may take another look at Kamui. Out of...
No, it doesn't. The point was to convey that I could move the cue ball significantly less with the new tip. It should be evident that both shots were executed at the same distance for the sake of comparison, or the test would be meaningless.
If you do not have anything constructive to add to...
Thank you for the feedback. Although it is not the point of the post, I guess I should have stated 'the indian, not the arrow; within reason'. The arrow has to be straight. I agree that equipment *at some level* absolutely matters. Going from a cheaply made cue to any of the professional brands...
Thank you for the insight, I appreciate it. I have thought of moving up on the hardness but my concern is losing the feel of the hit, especially with the CF shaft. It is my understanding (could be wrong, this is my first CF shaft) that the firmer tips become more hollow and 'pingy' like the...
Let me preface this with the following:
I am a firm believer in "It's the Indian, not the arrow" as any decent player should be able to adapt to their equipment
I am not one of those searching for the latest piece of gear that is suddenly going to make me play like a pro
I am not a pro player...
Had one of these to spare, cut the middle foam to fit the shape of my entire case. A bit of overkill but short of the plane crashing it guarantees that the cues will be unharmed.
Tons of extra room inside as well.
Personally I am not a fan of the 2nd ball break and only use a headball hit, squarely from approximately 3" left or right of center.
I have seen some absolutely disastrous breaks come from a 2nd ball break from those people seeking to nab the elusive '8 on the break'. I can consistently get 1+...
