And we (most of us) are more familiar with the speed/hit needed for a stop shot, and can more easily adjust from that than accurately gauge the rolling speed needed to “roll through” the right distance.

English is almost never applied with the cue parallel to the shot line - except for the rare case where swerve exactly cancels squirt at that exact distance & speed (i.e., almost never).
Even many noobs know this.
