With such a flat tip you either “hit with the edge” or you hit center ball, meaning less spin and more miscues. pj chgo

The flat spot is a little room for error when hitting dead center ball. A possible drawback: hits near the “edge” of the flat spot might be unpredictable. pj chgo

Top/bottom spin on the CB has the greatest path-curving effect when the CB hits the rail at a 45-degree angle (because its spin is perpendicular to its direction of travel after rebounding). An angle into the rail that's steeper or shallower than 45 degrees means less curve. pj chgo

In my tests 1/3 of maximum tip offset = 1 diamond up the rail, 2/3 of maximum = 2 diamonds and maximum tip offset = 3 diamonds. pj chgo

Yep, and spin-to-speed can also be increased by hitting lower and slower so speed rubs off more than spin. But those are due to the player's skill, not the cue's qualities. pj chgo

My logic: My logic is there's no practical difference, so play with what you like best. Your "logic" seems to be "all cues" = "one style cue". What you like best. pj chgo
