Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I understand, that's why I said the footage alone is enough. The footage shows the drastically different behaviors of the cue ball depending on if it contacts the wrong ball first.

    Break Stats -- 2026 World 8-Ball Championship, April 2026

wow that is awesome data! May I know how you tracked all these? Did you have some way to automate it?

Oops I did it again (Yapp's) foul in a final, a second time!

I carefully replicated the shot in slomo and posted a video. The video is in Chinese, but I think the footage alone is enough. If you are interested you can watch it here The slowmo starts at 1:06, and shows 8-first hit (almost split hit but nonetheless 8 first), 8-first hit (clearly 8-first)...

Controversial European Open Push Shot Call – The Myths Busted

Just to add my 2 cents, I have slowmo footage showing that hitting into frozen balls is not double-hit.

Current and past 9-ball official rules?

Yeah, Corey is really good at soft breaks. I'm watching a lot of his 2016, 2017 bar table matches. When the racking paper is used, you are guaranteed the wing ball on the same side as you, so the "4 balls must contact cushions" rule doesn't seem to be helpful anyway.

Current and past 9-ball official rules?

Thank you! This is really awesome. It's interesting that the rule says, "other balls may be placed entirely at random", as if pattern racking is allowed. Or I guess it was.

Current and past 9-ball official rules?

Hello all, I'm interested in the history of 9 ball rules, but I don't know where I can find official documents. I know WPA has official rules, the older one effective 2016 and the new one effective 2025. But I'm not able to find any other official documents for the time before 2016. Does anyone...

    Billiard Industry needs

Well, I suppose it is not so easy to automate the process. But it certainly is feasible. In snooker pro tournaments, safeties are tracked. Does it matter? I think so, why not?

    Billiard Industry needs

Do you think pool can be like basketball (or snooker) one day when many other features are tracked? For example safety success, shot success, positional play success just to name a few. Sure Fargorate is already quite good at predicting the outcome, but I at least would like to know more than...

WPA Addresses Ball Waxing During Matches

I'm from Amoy, China. I can say that using car wax is very common practice in humid area like Fujian or Taiwan. So I'm pretty sure the same happens in Philipines. But It is certainly not common in Northern America, at least the pool halls I've been to in Seattle, Chicago, Wisconsin, or Vancouver

The math of a perfectly centered break shot

Sorry for reviving this old post lol. I just found this math stack exchange post these days. Before you see the simulations, here is Corey's perfect break: and Chinese heyball player Zhang Kunpeng's perfect break: So you see, the simulation is very accurate! I wrote a simulation and will...

I asked Corey if he would play again in China last July during the Quincy meeting. This is a dream come true!

Shooters Pool, a new pool simulator

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but did you end up writing any paper about how you simulated the physics? I'm very interested in the inner working of the game! I hope you still use AZB lol
