Agreed!
Out of the Worlds, U.S, Japan & China open's, Efren, Filler, Wu, Pagulayan, Souquet, Thorsten, Pin-yi & Immonen all have won 3 out of the 4 titles, but no player holds them all, yet.........
Earl & Sigel played a Challenge Match in 9-Ball, in 1985, Race to 45- Earl 45, Sigel 44. Does this qualify as the two best players matching up, in 9-Ball?
Vivian Villareal is the one player that has has been unjustly placed in the Hall of Fame currently, the titles speak for themselves, hopefully the next set of ballot votes would acknowledge her career achievements.

Butera ran 150 and out in 19 minutes against Lassiter, I believe it was in the late 60s. I think this was the fastest recorded time for a 150 ball run, hard to beat!
I suppose the events that were pre 1990 could be added but at that point it's subjective to which ones qualify as "World Championship" events. You decide If you think you can, because I certainly don't have the stuff to figure that one out and don't know who can make those kind of decisions...
Sorry Typo, it was $8,000 in 1986. I do trust you, although I looked through the National Billiards Archives, very few but still a few players from other countries.
True, but someone's got to do it. Other that Charles Ursitti no one even tried to keep a track of pool's history and document it, Snooker is light years ahead of pool when it come to this.
Yes I didn't add Earl's titles in 84 and 88 to his wiki as being World 9-Ball Championships, because many people like yourself, kind of, feel that these were not true world championship events (like Johnston City). I know the events their referring to here, the tournaments held at Caesars...
