Best jump cue you've ever tested?

I just updated the table in my earlier post, adding balance point comparisons. I found the CT Propel more forward weighted in the 2-pc config, and more backward weighted in the 3-pc config. You mentioned weighting -- is there a preference to be more forward or backward, in either configuration?

Best jump cue you've ever tested?

I've been happy with my Air Rush, but have tested 2 additional jump cues that jump much more easily (both pretty close to each other). Here are some specs I put together to help me compare them. I have to give the edge to the Cuetec Propel.

    Pool Cue Cases

If you're considering JB, read this... I thoroughly researched every case maker in America and most of Europe, and decided on JB. Also spent a couple hours going through their excellent site. The case is great, perhaps the best on the market, but -- by all the pool Gods -- beware the people...

    youtube find on the Hustler

Uh-oh! LOL. Fats compliments Eddie on a foul at 0:51. I guess Mosconi figured it looked cool, for the people who can't tell.

How do you cross-bank this shot

The reason for the inside English is two-fold. I would never shoot this with max right as you will often scratch in the opposite side, or kiss out just before the pocket (the kiss usually occurs though with slightly less cut angle). Medium right is the ticket, helping spin transfer, and reducing...

Top pool moments in my lifetime

Efren's best performance ever For me, Efren overcoming a 17 game deficit in 3 hours during the 1996 Hong Kong match with Earl, race-to-120 for $100,000. This truly showed the character and greatness of a legend, and the lack of both in the other direction for the incredibly ungracious and rude...

Personal Safety Thoughts When Returning To Pool Rooms

Face the reality folks! Perhaps the best post in the first 10 pages. Bottom Line: 1. There is NO WAY, NONE, to sanitize all pool room equipment. 2. Even if there were, people are BREATHING constantly, and spewing virus everywhere, EVEN WITH A MASK ON (per scientific study). 3. People are...

    Using english to much

Tin Man and Bob Jewett have it right. Two points. First, while most of us would concede that it is "better" to play all shots on the vertical axis, it unfortunately requires near-perfect speed control to get close to the right angle on every shot. To me that is top professional level, something...

Why Did David Alcaide Play The Shot This Way?

I think your entire series is excellent, and one of the better instructional resources on YouTube! Obviously the graphics are excellent visualization aids, and we appreciate the effort that went into them. I also like that the videos are on important common sense topics that many instructors...

    Tips... Are we fooling Ourselves?

Regarding the $13.00 Japanese knife recommended on a previous page (which came with free third party shipping), here is an Amazon link for the same knife at a cost of only $7.67 (if you have Prime)...

    Want to thank Bob Jewitt

Many, many, MANY thanks to Bob Jewett for almost 20 years of incisive, well-written and entertaining BD articles and other contributions to our game, which have made a great many of us understand the technical aspects so much better. I applaud his efforts, and look forward to his eventual...

force follow power shot, how to hit?

Here's some DIFFERENT advice from a 5-time U.S. National Champion in 3-cushion. Allen Gilbert had the best force follow I've ever seen, in that I could do the same shot as him, but he would hit it 25% softer and the cue ball would amazingly go just as far. I took lessons from him for a couple of...

    10 commandments of one pocket.

Great thread!! Here's a new one: Set traps. Evaluate your opponent; leave him a shot he shouldn't make, but thinks he can, and when he doesn't you're standing is better. Don't of course leave him a shot he can win on; rather, one that he can lose on.

    Shane's mystery game???

Thanks all. Haven't been to any international tournaments lately, and wasn't aware of this rule. It was quite weird to see this happen, and all I could think of was some new rule. It will be interesting to see if it catches on. I like the idea of the referee being able to override the rule if...

    Shane's mystery game???

Well, after watching perhaps 8,749,759 games of 9-ball, this is the first time I've seen this. At 15:06 Shane breaks and makes TWO balls, perfectly legal and ordinary. Then Shane shrugs and makes a face like he did something wrong (when he didn't), and he sits down. His opponent --- already out...
