Hi The rails are Penguin brand. I didn't want to bash Penguin, the installation is questionable.

    Pocket Size

A friend bought a set of rails for a Valley barbox. They're sold as making the table play like a Diamond. Makes 4 inch pockets. When he was out of the room, I checked the pockets, using two balls to measure. One hole was way bigger! Later measuring with calipers revealed the pockets were from...

I used to run in-house leagues at our local room. One time I recycled all my old trophies with new name plates and awarded them at the end of the season.

Does cold temps hurt a Pool Table

My pal is a table mechanic, pool collector, etc. He borrowed my"skill" saw and brought me a 1/2 a truck full of firewood. He cut up 2 1880's era Brunswick tables that were junk. For fun, I tested a joint,140 year old horsehide glue, and old growth "something". The old glue held, the wood failed.

Are diamonds on a pool table a bit of a crutch??

My Gramps had a Brunswick bumper pool table in the 60's. No diamonds, but the cloth was factory printed with what amounted to a yardstick down each side, with a zero in the middle. There were 5 spot shots to start the game, hit the number, make the ball! Myself and an Uncle were the only ones...

    Soaring Eagle

You can stay cheaper near by, but take into account winter travel. I played there a couple years ago. Arrived Thursday afternoon. Drove 100 miles, just beating an approaching snow storm. (12+ inches). I checked in, and didn't go outside for 3 days. Set the room thermostat at 80 and...

A Bit Of Trivia About Aileen Wuornos; The Serial Killer They Called "Monster"

I actually knew her in Junior High/Senior High. We weren't close or anything, but I saw her most days till she left school........ Her, her brother Keith and I ran in the same "social circles" in school. Scary thought. I didn't know she was a pool player, but she was a tough *****...

Chalkless Cue Tips - the Grip Tip.

I invented that in 1965.;) I was carving tips out of big pink pencil erasers. I did it dozens of times, they had a very short life. Being 10 years old, I lacked the foresight to patent it. Tom

    What are good 3-person games?

We called that reverse Cut Throat. Shoot your own balls in. The highest in each group ( 5 10 15) were treated like an 8-ball and had to be shot last. Tom

It happened to me a couple nights ago. Playing partners 9 ball, I comboed a 9 and broke and ran out. Very unusual for me on this table with these guys. :-) My remark was, " I was having so much fun, I forgot to miss!"

    Random: Anyone play Backgammon anymore?

I think it's closer to poker than pool, pool players seem to like poker, so..... I used to go to a pool room that had 4 rental backgammon tables. There were a lot of good players in over the years, lots going on. I was told by the owner that there was more total money gambled on those 4 tables...

lets see some local room pics and hear what you like about it.

Heres my local room. My friend has a converted chicken coop grafted on to a single wide on his property.:) Nothing fancy, low budget all the way, except the nice 9ft Olhausen with always fresh Simonis, and the nice Valley bar box just out of the picture to the left. I live in the sticks of...
