I used to run in-house leagues at our local room. One time I recycled all my old trophies with new name plates and awarded them at the end of the season.

My pal is a table mechanic, pool collector,etc. He borrowed my"skill" saw and brought me a 1/2 a truck full of firewood. He cut up 2 1880's era Brunswick tables that were junk. For fun, I tested a joint,140 year old horsehide glue, and old growth "something". The old glue held, the wood failed.

I've watched several thousand pool matches on youtube.........that was a great 9 ball match. Tom

My Gramps had a Brunswick bumper pool table in the 60's. No diamonds, but the cloth was factory printed with what amounted to a yardstick down each side, with a zero in the middle. There were 5 spot shots to start the game, hit the number, make the ball! Myself and an Uncle were the only ones...

We called that reverse Cut Throat. Shoot your own balls in. The highest in each group ( 5 10 15) were treated like an 8-ball and had to be shot last. Tom

It happened to me a couple nights ago. Playing partners 9 ball, I comboed a 9 and broke and ran out. Very unusual for me on this table with these guys. :-) My remark was, " I was having so much fun, I forgot to miss!"

I think it's closer to poker than pool, pool players seem to like poker, so..... I used to go to a pool room that had 4 rental backgammon tables. There were a lot of good players in over the years, lots going on. I was told by the owner that there was more total money gambled on those 4 tables...
