I have a lower g-series McDermott as well and I think it is an excellent butt. I'd recommend an OB shaft with a good tip. The tip and shaft are far more important than the butt. Your shaft, as is, might be fine. Can't offer any opinion on the g-core shaft, though.

Conduct drills 6 days a week (Friday is play all day) and maintain a healthy balance between pool and school. Not a change in the least from what I've already been doing, though.

I usually listen to rap where I play, but trust me...it's not by choice. When I move on to grad school next year I plan to get a table for my rental house. If that works out then I'll be listening to John Prine, Rolling Stones, The Band, Gram Parsons, Alice In Chains, etc.

I would also have to commend Dom on putting together some great instructional materials, although I do think Vol. 3 would be a waste of cash (just buy a notebook for a dollar to keep track of progress). It is hard to find a good quantity of advanced drills in most of the books out there...

I agree, I think having spending hundreds of extra dollars on a flashy looking cue is pretty lame. I'm for the sneaky pete designs myself. However, if it makes some people happy, good for them. I just feel like some people might do it for show...kind of like driving a flashy car. Or how...
