“Fireball” Mike Dechaine goes undefeated to win inaugural State of Maine 9-Ball Open

Forest City Billiards is owned by an APA player, Tyson, who bought it earlier this year. He didn't have any experience in the industry (he was in the trades) but he has a passion for pool. He has had the felt and cushions replaced on all the tables and reorganized the place a bit. I was at an...

    Cue holder help

I have this as well. Works great. Only problem is that it sometimes doesn't open enought to accomodate really thick tables.

    Gloves

Never found a glove that I liked as I have sweaty hands. Then I found the unglove which covers just two fingers and the thumb. Works for me. https://unglove.me/

    I’ll have one of those….

I stopped drinking when playing pool 2 1/2 years ago, so it is soda water (seltzer) with lime for me.

58'' standard cue length needs to be bumped to 59/60''

I'm 6'3" tall and got a Balance-Rite extension (3 3/4 inches) years ago and found it made the cue too heavy. Recently got a 30" CF shaft and am using that with the extension and a wooden butt. It is working well so far. Very comfortable and doesn't feel too heavy.

Carbon fiber: shaft vs. entire cue; extension?

Been playing in the APA fifteen years (5 handicap in both 8 and 9 ball). Have two somewhat basic pool cues: Action Impact; Griffin GR. 1- Should I just get a CF shaft and put it on the Action butt or get an all CF cue? Will it make a difference in how I shoot? I don't care much about what...

Film oddities or coincidences in The Hustler

While my friends and I were more into new wave music at the time (Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, The Clash, etc.) we went to discos because that was here the young women were going. I actually entered some disco dance contests with a young woman I wanted to date at the time (we just remained...

You guys were correct as usual

I could never find a glove that worked for me. It'd be all sweaty and clammy in 15 minutes of playing. I found the "Unglove" and that works for me - https://unglove.me/

    50 and over tournaments

At 63, I am the old guy on my APA team. The rest are guys in their 20s and 30s. A running joke with us is that when a song plays on the jukebox, I have usually seen the band and will tell them what year and where I saw them. Examples - Stevie Ray Vaughan, Montreal, 1983; Boston, Hanover NH...

    Tip/ferrule replacement tools/kit

I'd like to try my hand at replacing tips and ferrules. Any recommendations on a kit that I can buy with tools/supplies? I have a few old cues that I can practice on before working on my better cues. I'm just a casual 5-ranked APA player.

I first saw Steve Wright in the late 70s/early 80s at the Ding Ho comedy club in Cambridge MA. He was the second comedian in a lineup of 5. So different from any other comedian....

    Horrors! Spirit Airlines and cues!

Got a free ticket on Spirit to the APA event in Vegas a few years ago. Worst airline ever....
