Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

That really hasn't been my experience when experimenting with teflon/silicone sprays (for trickshots and fun, NOT cheating) 1. Miscues are not common if you use chalk. 2. Staying close to center is not necessary. 3. As far as action on the cueball, you get more, lots more. You will draw further...

Rebuttal by Johann Chua re Waxgate

You wear a glove soaked in silicone or teflon, just a little bit in the palm area would do it. When you break you rub it on the ball. You can get better coverage if you rub the cue ball against the rail under the pretense of cleaning it. You don't actually need as much as you think. Or when you...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

I don’t know about this particular instance, but it IS possible to cheat this way. You can completely change the play with wax, to the point where your opponent will miss shots by a large margin, not just position. Nobody but a referee should be allowed to «clean» the cue ball!

Mark Wilson on sidespin to pocket balls

Any 14.1 player worth his salt has thrown a ball into the pocket, with sidespin, that wouldn't have gone otherwise.

    Your thoughts and opinions please…

I think that was G10. Some g10 tips were harder than the phenolic in the balls. Breaking with these tips made a "breaking glass" sound. Very high pitched and unpleasant to listen to. As for the OP's question; Yes, you can add a phenolic tip to a cue and break with it. I would, however, not...

    GB9 Ball Tour Tight pockets

Well, there is a table who solves all those problems: The Chinese 8 ball table. The Chinese have a very good setup with large prizes and everything. You should totally play that. They even have a 9 ball game which solves most of the unfair aspects of 9 ball by assigning points for missed kicks...

    GB9 Ball Tour Tight pockets

The British obsession with tight pockets continues...And since they're in charge of pool now, this is what pool has become. Thank goodness there are other cue games to play. I think, really, that what the GB fans want is Chineese 8 ball tables, but they are somehow not willing to jump to that...

Moving to a heavy playing cue

First and foremost, adding weight will do nothing for your stroke, apart from one exception mentioned later, IMO. Adding weight will change the feel of the hit and the balance of the cue. Changing these things is a matter of personal taste. I've always played in the 18,5-19.5 ounce range...

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

I hope Rasson has changed the side pocket cuts. I played some on an early version, and it had, hands down, the WORST side pocket cut I have ever experienced in all my years of cue sports. It spat out good shots left and right. I was daydreaming about Olhausens while playing on it, that's how bad...

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

I'm surprised more people on here do not love this? Everyone is always whining about needing tighter pockets, well, this is it, as tight as pockets can realistically get, apart from the side pockets which are actually somewhat generous. Pocket sizes do vary a tiny bit from table to table, the...

Are Corey and Melling the 2 best at dissecting an 8 ball rack ever?

Corey plays beautiful 8 ball patterns. When I watch him play there is rarely a time where I disagree with his choices, and when I do, I usually turn out to be wrong. He is also a genius at developing seemingly tough racks. For the most part he plays very simple and nice patterns when the racks...

Using a "Touch" of outside on cut shots

If, for some reason, you HAVE TO roll a ball in slowly, a touch of outside will protect you from a skid and will also allow you to aim easier. Keep in mind that most top players shoot a majority of their shots with some kind of english and will not usually misjudge deflection/swerve. If a shot...

What is the One Major Player Flaw You See Most Often At The Pool Hall

Too many to begin to even mention every one. I'd say one of the most widespread among good and bad players alike is bad angle management. Say you have a ball close to the top rail and the next ball on is next to the bottom rail or vice versa. Even great players often try to get below the ball...

    Johnny Archer

She's going to be a great player, that has to be said, but her patterns need work if she's going to play more 8 ball. I didn't mean to come off quite as negative as my previous post indicated. She's young and will get more and more knowledge and experience as she plays.

    Johnny Archer

I watched most of the match, but I have to say, it's always obvious when someone is primarily a 9 ball player. I didn't care for their patterns or planning at all. Easton especially made many terrible choices. She bumped balls she didn't need to and her patterns were not good. 8 ball on small...
