I just buy the adapter with the smallest hole possible, which is 5/16x18. I then simply bore and thread the aluminum just like any other piece. This has worked just fine for me several times now. This works only for large pins. In my case, I needed several done to 7/16 x 11. Worked great.

I tore the whole thing down to the bare bones, all of the headstock, both chucks, etc., and put it all in my deep ultrasonic cleaner. I then put it all back together and used a small amount of Locktite Blue on the threads of the left chuck. Tightened it as tight ad my hands could deliver...

Thanks. I finally just did the hardware store trip and tried until I found one. Now the issue is that the threads only go 1-1/2" deep. I just ordered a 4" tap so I can add an ounce and still have enough threads for the butt cap to engage.
