    Question for old timers@

ah ha!!!! The best 3 cushion player in my small town pool hall was the local cobbler by the name of Polly Owens. This is what I knew him as, but it may have been Paulie Owens. I loved going into his shop, it smelled so good with the leather and glues, it was probably about 1910 vintage...

Romine's High Pockets selling Schon cues

I didn't even ask for a tour, it was almost like I came in the back door, non-public entry. Heck, maybe I did. It was very industrial setting, not fancy, all work, type of place in an industrial part of Milwaukee/south side?? if I recall correctly.

Romine's High Pockets selling Schon cues

I visited the factory about 15 years ago and it was like it was some top secret facility. They were polite but none too hospitable. Yes, this is our factory where we made your cues, we can't/won't show you anything, please leave, thank you for being a Schon customer. I can understand that...

    Super Billiards Expo 2026

Eating horsemeat is still legal in France, among other places, although not as popular as it once was. Places serving "horse" in France had a "sign" outside that was a horse's head.

    Chicago pool happenings

I am an Illinois native. Worked for the IL Dept. of Insurance for 13+ years, spent half that time in the greater Chicago area. But I left for good in 1988 with no regrets. I live in and love Georgia.

Another stupid thread from me: golf is harder than pool

I found golf to be a perfect way to screw up a perfectly good day. Pool was indoors, year round, no wild animals, and much less walking and you are always close to the bar.

    Playing Pool after 50?

I played Jimmy Moore when he was in his 80s, he kicked my ass. Most athletes are in their prime from about 25 to 30, I would add 10-20 years for pool players. But the average player could be competitive into their sixties.

PGA Player Mic'd Up/Pool Why Not?

My pool mentor told me many times, the casual observer of a pool game watches the balls being shot in the pockets, the knowledgeable observer watches where the cue ball goes. Take care of whitey. During my educations, nothing was more frustrating than putting Whitey right where I wanted...

PBS St Louis 2026 (Men’s World 8 Ball Championship, Mixed Doubles, Women’s Open, Bank Pool), 1-8 April, Half Million Prize Fund

I would hold off on the White Castle until after you have any firm commitments, you need to set aside a clear block of "potty" time.

I went to college 25 miles east of St. Louis, in Illinois, and miss the Hill, toasted ravs and the other great Italian fare.
