Sound is a weird subjective thing. What it did for me was take out the “thunk” sound and let me hear the balls hit the pocket quietly and then the nice “click” as the balls fill the pockets. You might say, more like a GC. Sound can be tuned.

I put adhesive sound deadening foam on the wood where the ball hits behind the pocket and it made all the difference in the world.

I finished my new table pockets with a french cuff like this. You can buy this from home depot Pipe hanger strap and if you have some extra cloth you can glue the plastic strip to the edge of the cloth, staple it to the slate frame and then fold it over and glue or staple it on the underside...
