Thank you for the advise.

I have read that book a few years back, it's great. 3-cushion like other games as well depend a lot on the feel which affects greatly to speed control. Feel can't be acquired though books but it's good to study systems to get an idea how the game works.

What do you think is the best book about 3-cushion discipline? I'm not looking for suggestions in which I should get acquainted myself, just you're opinion taking account the versatility of content, pictures and overall quality to name a few. Thanks!

I think they refer to zones where the maximum line of 3 or 4 is a result. For example if the 2. ball is situated on the orange zone the longest line you can get is the 3-line hitting the 3rd diamond on the third rail unless you use reverse english to lengthen the shot more.

Is that the same McGoorty mentioned in Robert Byrne's Advanced Pool book, a notorious hustler?

Seems like the shot in OP's link is a foul https://youtu.be/DiRhWNfB7-M. QB just slightly grazes the red before contacting 1st rail. I get the idea of the shot though, very hard to execute.

Max right english, bottom long rail, red, short rail, back to long and score.

Really? I looked at it more carefully and the center pocket cut doesn't seem to be round which suggests it being a russian pyramid table. Whatever it is, since I got introduced to three cushion little over a year ago, pocket billiards lost it's intrigue for me.
