I get it from Matchroom and the hotels point of view, but it may change the equation for players when deciding if it's financially worth it to enter a tournament for them
I'm not sure which is best, but absolutely makes sense to me that promoters want top heavy prize distributions (so they can boast about how much winner gets) and players want it more spread out (as only one player can win and they are all spending a fortune on travel).
Re. Bosnia, heard one of...
That's the big difference between international rules and blackball rules in English pool and it's never sat right with me. I prefer blackball rules where pocketing your ball and the opponents ball in the same shot is legal (presuming you hit your ball first), but if you try it and fail it's a...
There is a theory that the top players have lasted so long at the top as the sport is kind of dying in the UK. Lots of snooker clubs closing down or getting rid of most of their tables and replacing them with pool tables which means less good players are coming through.
Though now there is a...
This is why snooker is dying in the UK. Can fit in more 9 ball pool or UK 8 ball pool tables in the same space and both are more beginner friendly than snooker too.
Any cue sport there are times no matter how good you are, the best option is to play a safety.
9 ball they are still going for the finishes 90% of the time. It's not like you have a drawn out safety battle at the start of every frame.
I like 9 ball because it suits my attention span. And I...
I might be in the minority but I enjoy the safety aspect of the game and I also think the top players are running out so often that pocket sizes being too small clearly isn't an issue. As Lowell said would be boring if the ran out every time
All golf courses that host pro tournaments have basically been massively lengthened and made much more challenging as pro golfers (possibly partially due to equipment) are so much better now. I remember courses talking about Tiger proofing the course when Tiger Woods was first on the scene and...
Lot of Brits seem to have went out in the last round with only Arfan Dad(17-15) and Jordan Shepperd(17-16) having close matches. Mick Hill drawing Gareth Potts guarantees one Brit in last 33. Kelly Fisher and Jack Whelan still to play their matches
If they are closer to parallel than spec, does that mean they are even more difficult?
Why do you think the left facing has been done poorly (not saying your wrong, just curious to learn)
I might be mistaken but I think the table and balls are broadly the size of American pool with pockets the size of a snooker table.
Not tried it, but it looks like the hardest form of pool.
Had to google La Delgerdalai to work out what the flag I didn't recognise was. If anyone else was wondering it's the Mongolian flag. Don't remember seeing that before
Before the Mosconi I heard an interview with one of the European players (think it was Moritz, but may be misremembering) and he'd mentioned about them all living together in the run up to it to practice and bond and he said they all took it in turn to cook for the whole group, but Filler didn't...
