my adjustments aren't inconsistent, i do the same thing almost every time.
what i do is that i turn my wrist marginally so when i address the CB my thumb is very slightly inwards towards my body (by a very small amount which it's hard to even notice), and during the practice strokes the wrist...
does it really matter how you get there if your final stroke is straight? is it really important if you adjust multiple or individual parts of your body?
what is the reason though? the way i see it which ever micro adjustment you choose to make you will always alter your body alignment slightly from your initial alignment you had before making the adjustments. so why is altering the position of your wrist slightly more fundamentally wrong than...
i don't know if anyone else does this but my way of making microadjustments when down on the shot is by turning my wrist very slightly during the practice strokes to finalize my aiming process and get the cue online. during this time as i'm taking my practice strokes, my upper arm/elbow may also...
i would say yes but not consciously. it's a habit that i've developed from my early playing days, i learnt to keep my head down until the stroke is finished on the majority of shots.
thanks for the observations. when you say change your grip do you mean to place my grip arm in a more vertical position instead of further back? or do you mean to open the back fingers on the backswing to keep the cue level? both of these changes result in a more level stroke.
i think SVB also raises his head up as he pulls the cue back but i think the difference is that with me as i pull the cue back me head raises but the cue remain in contact with the chin whereas with SVB, he loses contact with the chin as he pulls back the cue.
also another thing that i'm wondering is, wouldn't it be more unlikely that this movement can pull the cue offline since it's up & down and not side to side?
yes i know. i think even if i drop my elbow on the backswing to pull the cue back more level i will still have the movement but maybe to a lesser extent. if i change my back arm position to a more vertical position instead of my current set up which is further back from vertical and also focus...
i watched 2 tournament matches that i played and the same thing kept happening almost every time that i broke. it wasn't happening to my opponents on most of their breaks. i think i'm just not racking the balls tight enough but i'm not sure.
at 1:39:40 is half of the semi- final that was...
i want to resurrect this thread because although i neglected this movement since i talked about it here, i watched myself on video in a tournament final and the head movement on the backswing is quite noticable. the stroke seems relatively straight and i missed only 3 balls during the whole...
ok sorry i thought you were implying something else. to be honest, i don't remember that much, only the unsuccessful breaks which leave a combo on have stuck in my mind but next time i will keep that in mind.
i don't like to lose games like that and i don't like to win games like that. i like the game when it has lots of run outs, good tactical battles etc and not 9 ball combos right after the break but unfortunately these are the rules.
