open vs closed bridge draw shot miscues

just wanted to update this thread and say that changing the bridge height reduced my miscues but i don't know if it was the main culprit because yesterday in practice i noticed that whenever i pull the cue all the back to my thumb for powerful draw shots, then i'm almost certainly going to...

    left english vs right english

what does my playing level have to do with if i'm able to detect a flaw or not?

    left english vs right english

    left english vs right english

also in addition to the flaw i had, as mentioned here, most players have a weak and a strong side so maybe this is also contributing to problems. i think this happens because most players have optical illusions which is normal because nobody can see perfectly.

    left english vs right english

it's most likely my aim because for a couple of years my vision centre was offline (too far to my right) , so i was perceiving slight right english as center ball. so when i wanted to put on slight left english many times i was actually hitting center ball with no spin. now that i have moved my...

    left english vs right english

yes, i agree about every player having a good and a weak side, so i guess you need to practice your weak side a lot.

    left english vs right english

i think the solution is simple, i need to aim further to the left of the CB than i think as you say. i tried it a couple of days ago in practice and the shot picture looked a little odd and also it made the shot more difficult so it needs more practice.

    left english vs right english

hi everyone, does anybody else find it more difficult to put on the english required from one side and also find it easier to put on english from the other? this also causes you to have more difficulty potting balls when using english from your weak side. (my weak side is left english). assuming...

    missing easy balls

yes, i will record myself again both in practice and in tournament play to see if i can spot something as i haven't done this in over a year but i don't think i need any major changes anymore, probably a few minor tweaks in my technique.

    missing easy balls

yes, i agree i think for me the most common reasons for missing easy balls are : focusing more on the position for the next ball rather than the shot itself or not commiting fully on what i want to do with the CB. also another thing to note is if you are very anxious in a match, this will lower...

    missing easy balls

hi everyone, i'm a good B player who can run out tables but my problem is in many sets that i play (especially tournament matches), i usually will miss 1-2 easy balls which most likely will cost you the rack at this level. i think in most sets that i play (races to 9), i will miss about 6-7...

    head position question

i think we are misunderstanding each other. when i say 'one eye closer to the shot line than the other' , i mean closer to the object ball & cue ball, so that means the head turned slightly, while i think you mean that the head should be as square as possible and not with one eye more forward...

    head position question

ok, so from reading what you're saying, i don't think it's technically wrong to have one eye very slightly closer to the shot line than the other but it's just a matter of comfortability, the eyes aren't as comfortable as they are when your face is completely square to the shot. i have been...

    head position question

hi everyone, i have another question about head alignment since it seems to be one of the most complicated subjects. basically what i want to find out (assuming that i have found my vision centre alignment) is : when coaches advocate that the face should be square to the shot, do they mean that...

finding the degree of your eye dominance

i think you need to use some donuts to guarantee that the shot is set up dead-straight. can you still set it up perfectly without some sort of equipment?
