Dennis Dieckman cue info/value

I am looking for info or a source to help me understand the value and uniqueness of what I have.

I acquired a Dennis Dieckman custom made in 1993 from an acquaintance that studied under Dennis and passed a couple years ago.
Where would I begin on value? I am planning to keep it as it was a friends personal cue set.

You can feel the inlays and rings through the finish. There is a crack on the purple heart shaft ring only on 2 shafts, not the wood just the ring. Nice inlays on one shaft.

Should I leave it alone since Dennis passed away, or seek to have it refinished?? Would it lose value if I have it refinished?
Can the signatures be saved if it was refinished?

I wouldn't touch it. Value$ 3000ish. Maybe more. Nice cue.

No it wouldn’t lose value…unless the signature is lost or damaged by the refinish imop.

Don’t play with that shaft that’s got the cracked collar!

I’d get in touch with Dennis’s star pupil cue maker Dave Barenbrugge and consult him for repair/refinish…first and only choice if it were mine.

Beautiful cue the vignaux work in the shaft is gorgeous!

Dennis' cues are very hard to put a price on. You have a pool cue which is rarer but not what he was famous for.
It is in pretty rough shape. If you can save the signature it will help value to have that one refinished. I have seen his cues sell from a few hundred to a couple of thousand. Yours would not be in the higher end, but not at the bottom either.

You just received very good advice from 2 people that not only know cues but knew Dennis.
Dave Barenbrugge would very likely be the person that Dennis would have sent you to if he were still with us.
BTW that shaft is spliced not inlaid. Dennis made very few of those. I'm fortunate to also have one.

Dave Barenbrugge is an AZBilliard Member and yes he would be the best to question on refinishing, since it dated 1993 Dave might also have some insight about the cue. The other person who might, know something about the cue would be Bill Johnson in Michigan. Dennis did trust Joe Blackburn to do work on ferrules and tips work on his shaft Another cue maker that study with Dennis was BHQ (Brent Hartman),Ohio.

This could be make while Dieckman was working with Stout Cue in NC during early 90th.

And Brent so gracious of getting to learn from Dennis that he tried burning the fookin homestead down with a pizza!

Wish I had been there lmao

The cue will be a companion to my Dieckman Penny cue and a reminder of
why Brent Will alway be Brent "Burnt Pizza" Hartman in my eye.

When you own a Dieckman's Cue, not only do you have Magic Wand, you become part of Dieckman's Families

Sucks that dam duck taped bundle of butt very figured maple he sent addressed woth a sharpie (yes it got it taped and penned with no box in mail) got stolen

But I do have a Titlist long forearm he turned that’s just been being patient for many years.

Never had time to go chill at his place to get something done together he had some things he talked about having me finish Some cues for my personal and a bunch of saw work seconds to finish into canes for veterans and the like since they were def not cue worthy (warps or major faults like bad checks).

I honestly never had the balls to talk to Jamison about any of that didn’t want to look like an opportunistic vulture tbh.

I still wonder what came about some gifts I made for him….one day there might be Dieckmon items that’s actually something I done .

When we spoke he loved we could freely speak about cues on a even ground, so there wasn’t much banter on them….most of it was wood theory but the majority was just life.

We both found rare birds who just loved wood and cues just happen to be made of them .

I miss his odd originality but not so much because I’m an odd rat fooker too and everyone reminds me constantly . He lives on in my strange at minimum.

Butt I’ll never be a old cat lady like he was . Bet that hahaha

I certainly don't need any more Dieckman cues but I'm always sad when I think of other cues I let go.
This travel cue is special as you know. He made it 4Himself when he went back to Vietnam. 3 shafts - 1each Pool, Carom, Snooker.

When Robert Byrne got inducted into the HOF, Dennis signed it over to him and sent it to Bob's home in Dubuque,IA.
12square bought it off the Byrne Estate auction then was kind enough to offer it to me.

Dieckman also call his traveler cue......smuggler cue.from an old download file

Afuente858 This what Dieckman told me back in mid '90 to figure his cue value: Base cue price (let say 250.00), then 50.00 per each inlay (count each square separate, say 10 squares 500.00), figure 300.00 per each shaft .
