Caiden tips are great. Very consistent. The bitching about price is a bit funny, seeing how many players who play with $1000+ cues.. after all the tip is the part that actually touches the CB. I offer my customers all the big brands, at last count that's something like 80 different tips. People like different things and some are very brand loyal. Premium brands today are very consistent, this year I have had one faulty tip, I have probably done about 500 tip jobs thus far in 2024.

. I have it installed on a Predator Vantage shaft with an impact plate.
1. Did you mean instead of an impact plate, a ferrule?
2. I presume Predator Vantage shafts have no impact or vault plate. Do you agree?
3. As I understand it, a vault plate is a t-shaped ferrule-like material inserted only into hollow CF shafts. The vault-plate lip is glued to a silencer pad and, that, to the cue tip.
3. There were two black bands in the tip you installed. Would you play and wear this tip down past the first black band?

Here's a photo of their Fighter tips and, below that, a tip with brown, black, and white layers (with comments on those layers; see https://www.instagram.com/p/C-LWv50zVA9/ ):

You are correct... poor wording on my part. I used a black acrylic "pad" to mount the Caiden tip to... I did not bore down into the ferrule, etc, and install a "true" impact plate.

Bamacues' tip has two black layers in the tip he installed. One is part of the tip while the other is the black pad that Bamacues placed on ferrule. I could use the top one---made of leather---as a tire-tread wear inidicator.......

The photo I showed of a Caiden tip showed five layers and I don't think any were a pad. They are used on Richard Hsu's RJH Cues' Hsunami shaft:

Correct... and as for the question as to would I use the black layer of the Caiden as the marker to change it...

Probably so, but honestly, it would depend on how it played at that stage. When you reach the black layer, you still have 3 layers of tip left. Personally, I don't like "tall" tips. I cut them down quite a bit, when I install one. People often complain about the cost of a tip, but $30 is a drop in the bucket in the grander scheme of things, as far as pool-related expenses go.

If the tip plays good at that level, I will keep playing with it.

My friend installed two Caiden soft tips on
My Carbon fiber shafts. One went on fine
The other fell apart. It looks like it delaminated.

I got say... I am very surprised and happy with the hit and sound of this tip. I added medium fighter to my kielwood shaft and i am not changing. I tested so many tips... Ask your installer what he thinks about it and how it shapes.... Amazing. I played with Zan max but had glaze issues, kamui black and athlete i had to much mushrooming and hate the sound of the hit.... Caiden fighter solved all of it!
I too am impressed with the Caiden fighter. I had it installed on my Scott Gilmore keilwood shaft on my Richard Black cue.
