ebony cues are hard to get down to most players preferred weight. but make super good cues.
it is about the only wood that wont float in water. the ebony you get with white streaks in it is inferior and cheaper.

You are correct that ebony is about the only wood that won't float in water.

Others are lignum vitae, ironwood, some rosewoods and natalie.
