For 9-ball or 10-ball rotation games, I would go back to "two-shot rollout" rules and get rid of one-foul ball in hand.

The background colors don’t affect game play, it just breaks tradition.
However changing primary colors wasn’t as intelligent because it would be similar to changing the color of snooker balls which are baked into the rules.
