APA finals diamond table

I post this every nationals to get people’s opinion lol. The last 3 the table has been white. Which got mixed reactions. This year it’s a grey and all the lettering is red. I like the grey and the cloth they chose but not the red. If it was mine I’d want the letters and diamonds white.
I also added a pic of the total arena. Like APA or not I love how they try to make it really special when you make the finals. It’s actually in another room that has another 8 tables with bleachers where they play all quarter and semi final matches. No one else does this. Plus that place gets packed. Standing room only packed. Between the people , the cameras streaming you, and the booth with Eva Mataya commentating it’s got to be a never forget experience. APA players love the game and aside from a few bad apples have a lot fun… and isn’t that what it’s supposed to be about for amateurs. I do my best to push the better players I see to get involved in other leagues and tournaments with no handicap so they grow as players with mixed results.
Sorry for the tangent lol who likes it and who doesn’t. Btw I don’t give a crap you don’t like playing on diamonds. I’m sure the usual suspects will need to remind us they hate the tables 😂 I’m talking about the color.

I don't really have much opinion about your opinions.

No disrespect, but the only thing of controversy for me was the SL 3. I mean I get that players get better as the tourney progresses. But how the hell she got through everything and at the final table is still a SL 3... Anyway, that's what stuck out for me.

Is it actually red? Or is it orange? I could understand if it were orange, as it would match everything else.... Still ugly as sin, but it would make sense.... Red is a definite 'NO', for me.

The white table was sexy
The 2nd year where they made the pockets and lettering black I liked. The first year it was light blue was a little much lol
I watched several of the finals on YouTube. This appeared to be an 8 foot table, not the usual Vegas bar box....correct??
nope 7 foot table..they play everything on bar box.

Eva said red on the broadcast..not a fan either. It doesn’t pop.

Orange, 🍊. The man announced that it reminded him of Harley Davidson. Plus I saw it. I can’t see the diamonds when down on a shot. They don’t stand out it’s not a bad looking table , but the diamond need to be white. Congratulations to all that made it, and to the winners. I also seen some people shoot way above there handicap.

The white tables were hot. This table looks black not grey, maybe its just the pics. I don't care for the red/orange lettering and diamonds, not enough contrast.

It’s definitely grey.. maybe a darker grey but I have a black diamond and you can definitely see the difference.. I was a big fan of the white to. Looked even better in person.

Yeah the diamonds on top of the table need to stand out more.. it’s to dark on that grey

When down really low, the diamonds can’t be seen, regardless of color, I wish there was some configuration that could make them still visible on a lighted area (with your chin near the cue), but still maintaining a level rail surface (?). Some kind of mini laser maybe, implanted in the diamonds?

Like a little hologram above the diamond marker, I wonder if we have the tech for that? I'm sure it would not cost effective.

I was there for the 1st time for the 9 ball tournament. We lost in the 5th round. I'm an SL7 and lost 17-3 to an SL9 with a FR of 725 lol.
I saw the finals match. The winning team had two SL4 that played like SL6 in that match. How they remained SL4 throughout is baffling.

Especially since one of the teams in the 8-ball final was DQ'd for sandbagging and replaced. The other team had a 3 move to a 4, which put them over 23. They had to forfeit one of the matches but still won.

That table in the final arena was a nice color, definitely gray, but I agree that the orange/red probably would have looked better in white. At least in my opinion. The cloth and the balls really stand out on the overhead camera, so I doubt you'll see that changing.

There were only two other tables in that room, and that's where the semifinals were played. Those were the same color combination as all the other tables in the three rooms where all the other pool was played. They did have a separate practice room available this time again, they didn't in May, and those were also the same color combination as all the other tables. There was a white table up near the control desk in Room C where they had all the big trophies on display. Not sure if that was the one from the finals last time, but it did look good with the black curtains behind it, and the trophies standing on it.

There was some controversy with the one team being DQ'ed in the semifinals, but the team that won it all also advanced because of a team being DQ'ed. That happened in the round just prior to the semis. The APA has observers that will come and score the entire match from the round of 16, all the way to the finals. Notice the green shirts sitting ringside, those are the observers. The observers will also come and score individual matches during the tournament, even starting in the very first round. There are some very specific and predetermined guidelines for player advancement throughout the whole tournament, and they do make efforts to ensure that players are playing at an appropriate skill level.

Yeah I more mean just from the color isn’t attractive to me

yeah they were obvious sandbaggers if you read the posts of what they were doing . People didn’t want to complain because it looked like sour grapes. Once you get deep in this tournament you’re going to be under a closer eye and most likely get caught. The real shitty thing is the team that got caught of course played the race card. They posted on face book claiming the apa didn’t want them to win because they were Latino. Which is just stupid and makes them bigger pieces of shit than they already are.

And in a completely unrelated coincidence the team the all-Latino team was replaced with was all black. What are the odds?

I don't have FB, but I did hear that there was a lot of stuff on there about it. That team played in my area out there, I remember their team shirts, and trying to figure out what one was the guy the team was named for. Shoot To Thrill also played in my area, also distinctive team shirts, and I remember them too.

I can tell you that in the last match before they went into the room where the finals were held, there were only 8 teams and four tables. It was a 7:00pm start time, and I was the ref for the match between the Shoot To Thrill team, and the team that got DQ'ed. That match was a pleasure to work, and both teams were laughing, joking, and interacting with each other the whole time. Everyone was upbeat and positive. After the girl from the team that got DQ'ed won those last two racks, there was no animosity that I saw, and Shoot To Thrill was gracious, wishing them well, and shaking hands. I don't know this for certian, but in my opinion, whatever it was that led to the disqualification, it didn't come from them.

When I played APA some years back our league operator had to field many questions about sandbagging and the national championships. IIRC he said if you play 2 skill levels above your current rating you will get DQd. This would be based on the scoresheets submitted during the tournament. But he also said that in some instances the league may send an observer to watch and if the observer thought you played better than your skill level you could get DQd. I have no idea how a team gets DQd. Too many players sandbagging maybe.

Politics. Obviously the system lacks credibility. Besides, handicaps are supposed to level the win percentages. Means a one should have the same chance as a Gorst.
