When I played APA some years back our league operator had to field many questions about sandbagging and the national championships. IIRC he said if you play 2 skill levels above your current rating you will get DQd. This would be based on the scoresheets submitted during the tournament. But he also said that in some instances the league may send an observer to watch and if the observer thought you played better than your skill level you could get DQd. I have no idea how a team gets DQd. Too many players sandbagging maybe.

That’s the one thing I liked better about tap. You didn’t get moved up during nationals. It was simple.. if you played 2 skill levels over your number you get red flagged and warned. If you did it again you got disqualified.

Politics. Obviously the system lacks credibility. Besides, handicaps are supposed to level the win percentages. Means a one should have the same chance as a Gorst.

This is true BUT you would have to extend the handicap a lot farther than what it currently is. Gorst would have to be like a 20 in 9 ball and make 200 balls before some makes 30

DQed for playing 2 skill levels above your handicap? I know that every time I won a tournament it was because I was playing way above my Fargo rating, sometimes shit just works out and you get hot, that's often when you win a tournament. So in APA you also have to start sandbagging during nationals if you are playing to well?? Nice league, SMH.

Well one thing about APA skill level, they measure it by removing the worst half of your matches. Take 20 matches, remove the bottom 10. Measure skill level. So the skill level already takes into account your best matches, not games. Personally I enjoyed playing in the APA. LO was a good guy. Almost everyone where good, nice people. And I played with my friends and co-workers. To each his own.
